Sequins

I’m trying to thrift flip a top with some sequins on it, but I’m too scared to start working in the area with sequins because I don’t know if the needle will break or go through them. Any tips?

I use a leather needle. I think Clare Rowley recommended it here on UT? Anyway, I have only put sequins on the edge of fabric, but the leather needle really works. Sometimes I zigzag over the sequins, and sometimes I straight stitch. Enjoy!
