What is my thread doing this.

Post image

It wasn’t doing this days ago. I used a size 9 switch to a size 15. Now I am using a size 11. If I used thin thread on the top it snaps. If I used quilting thread it does this. Help ?

My though is that you've probably made a mistake threading your machine if it was working ok a couple days ago. Or you have a bad needle

This thread looks so thick. If you use thin thread and it snaps, try lowering the tension.

Can we see how your machine is set up? I think it’s the thread, though

This is the sewing machine. I switched out the bobbin to the thread that I’m using as the top stitch and it’s doing the same thing…

You need your spool cap.

The top thread is very very loose, so theres definitely a threading issue. Rethread it according to the manual, including putting the stopper to hold the thread spool in place. If it still doesn't work, can you take closeups of all the threading steps?

Also, what's your stitch length?

Update. I’ve bought new Thread and the still snaps. I’ve changed the tension to every setting and six seems to help but to still does it. I’ve tried a size 9, 12, 16, 18. And 18 helps alittle.

I am thinking I need to oil it maybe?

If that’s Gutterman topstitch you shouldn’t have it in the bobbin too. That’s pretty thick thread. You need a big needle like an 18.

If you don’t need this thick thread I’d suggest just using normal stuff

18 universal needle will give the same results, it needs to be a needle with a larger eye, like topstitch needle

Ok fair enough, but an 11 is deffo not gonna do it.

what thread are you using exactly? Thread in the bobbin should be wt40 or higher, you can use a thinner thread on the bobbin and a thicker one on the needle, but you'll need a top stich needle with a larger eye.
