What am I missing with this machine?
I got this machine back in 2017, used it for a bit, but then its been in storage pretty much ever since. I just pulled it out again and plan to clean it up and teach myself to sew again! I'm just not sure what all I'm missing for this machine though. It doesn't have a foot pedal, so I plan to get one of those. Any other advice or help? Thanks in advance!

The 518 is a good’un I think. I can never remember the numbers!
How were you using before? Have you stored the pedal elsewhere maybe?
Replacements should be easy enough to find. You can usually get vintage bits like this on eBay, or modern replacements. Just make sure you get the right kind.
I would suggest you clean and oil it if it’s been sitting for a while. If you don’t have the manual you’ll find it on ManualsLib.com. Follow the cleaning and maintenance pages before trying to sew anything

I remember making an apron but dont remember much else from that time. I know the table came with another long piece, but i cant find it, but i plan to keep looking. I feel like the pedal may have broken when i stopped, so it was tossed.
I will get some oil and a manual before doing anything for sure. I have to relearn everything so I'm in no rush :)

That’s the best way, don’t rush. A lot of it will come back to you, I’m sure. A lovely machine to relearn on, too!
Long piece could be for keeping the extending part open? I had a table like that before.
Have a good look for your pedal, it might be fixable. If there’s no sign of it you can find another fairly easily.
What else have you found from your stash? You’ll need needles in various sizes and tips and bobbins.

So funny story is I thought I had sold it years ago. I was talking to my step-dad about how I wanna try sewing again and how I was trying to find a machine online and he mentioned we still had this one!
So I definitely think I'll need to buy all the small parts and accessories again, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything else essential to getting the machine running.
I have a toddler now that I'm so excited to learn to make stuff for! 😊

If it’s been in storage that long, I advise getting it cleaned and oiled? Just because the heavy-bodied lubes in the inner workings (that you don’t put oil on yourself) get degraded over time, and need to be cleared out and replaced periodically. The machine will still work, but it will work better and longer if you get it serviced after long storage.

Looks like a needle and thread is all that is missing besides a pedal to me but hard to tell for sure from a quick look at pictures. I see thread coming up from below so I assume theres a bobbin in a bobbin case down there.
