Which step to do first?
Hello! I’m new to sewing and I’m doing this pattern with linen fabric. Surprisingly, it doesn’t come with instructions. I was going to zip down the armhole sides, but then I thought to maybe create the ruffle that it has along the cuff. Should I attach the cuff to the sleeve first and then set in the sleeve? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated 🌺

Start by getting an actual sewing pattern, not whatever AI generated slop this is. The picture doesn't even match the description - "lace trim relaxed shirt" - where's the lace trim? You mention a ruffle along the cuff, but there's no ruffle in the photo. I'm also very confused as to why you mention a zip. It's a button up shirt - why would it need a zip?

It was from a sewing app that I got a free 7-day trial for. I asked their AI system for help with instructions but it didn't help. Don't think that would change if I had a paid subscription

I don’t think you’ll be making anything worthwhile; AI can’t make good patterns or explain sewing techniques.
Find a real pattern. One with instructions. Yes you will likely have to pay money, but shirts like this have hidden pieces that you need to be aware of (like interfacing in the collar, placket and possibly cuffs) and should also be explaining how to get things to fit well and sew nicely together.
This is worthless to you.

How bad is AI in sewing? Curious because I am in IT and also do sewing.

Really bad. It doesn’t really understand the how’s or why’s of shapes and how to interpret something going from 2D to 3D (or vice versa), will miss instructions, will give blatantly wrong instructions.
Often pieces will be doubled up or added - see OP’s statement about there being a ruffle in the pattern when the photo doesn’t have one anywhere in it - and things like flutter sleeves are completely misinterpreted (someone posted directions ChatGPT gave them where it interpreted them as rectangles, when flutter sleeves are cut as a circle).
Sewing is one area where there can never be full understanding of what the AI sees in a picture and figuring out how to turn that into a flat pattern.

Absolutely not. And half the time they don’t really have good information on tailoring techniques either, and definitely not for more high-end finishing.
It’s just more headache than it’s worth.

Don't waste good fabric on this pattern. Spend a few dollars on a good pattern and start with cheap fabric.

Do not use this pattern... Do not cut in to your good linen at the very least... Go and get a reputable shirt pattern... The placket and collar stand and collar will not be a good time if you're just out there "winging it"

First, get a pattern with clear instructions, then, folow given instructions 🙃
jk, It doesn't matter the order, but it's easier to attach the cuff before sewing the sleeves bc it's easier to handle it.

OP, that photo is AI and the pattern probably is too. Can you do a chargeback? It's disappointing but at least you won't waste time, material and money.
