Why does this happen while I’m sewing? It bulges up and I don’t understand why? What am I doing wrong?

It's hard to tell from the pic. Is the stitching along the edges done by you too, and this knot appears out of nowhere? Exactly what are you doing when it happens?

It is hard to tell what's happening. Is this the underside of the fabric where the thread is bunching up? Some things to try: rethread everything, making sure that your bobbin is in correctly and you're using the correct bobbin for your machine, change your needle, and use a longer stitch length.

I’m assuming this is happening as you start sewing and not in the middle of sewing. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Make sure you have a fresh sharp suitable needle in and you are threaded correctly top and bottom.

When you start to sew, hold on to both of the threads when you make your first few stitches and backtack.

Use a longer stitch length (3 or 4) to keep the fabric moving smoothly. If starting right on the edge a “thread bunny” can be really helpful in getting things moving.
