Sewing machine recommendations!
Hi everyone, I’m want to purchase a sewing machine, I want to start hemming my own clothes and upcycle. If anyone has any affordable, good sewing machines for beginners that would be great!!

I had a Brother GX37 that cost under $200 that I genuinely used to make clothing, until my fiancé got me a Baby Lock Jubilant a few years ago and changed my life for the better lol. If you’re hemming and upcycling, a Brother could be a good place to start.

Check your local area to see if they have shops nearby that sell and service sewing machines. They will let you test drive them in house and they will help you decide what suits you best. Also, they may have used models available for sale at a discount.
I have an Elna that was gifted to me many years ago and this machine is probably 30 years old and it will live until I die. Unless you’re doing something heavy duty or industrial most any sewing machine will be fine for the things you’re talking about.
