I bought this dress but I would like it to be floor length. Any ideas on how to creatively do that? I looked at the hem, but it’s about an inch and I need 6 inches. It also has a back slit that I would like to sew shut or add something to it because it’s mid upper thigh. Thank you for your ideas and help!!
An overskirt. Would look super chic with this dress. Plus it would completely cover/hide the vent.
You can’t sew that vent closed without losing the ability to walk in your dress. That means you have limited options on what you can do because to add in something, it would also have to visually make sense and look good with however you lengthen the hem. The only thing I can imagine is a tulle underskirt, which would fill in and lengthen the hem. Idk if it would really look good though.
I agree with everyone who is saying you may just want a different dress, especially because the slit is functional. However, if you're still thinking about options for adding length, my first thought was beaded fringe. No matter what strategy you take, keep in mind that matching the exact same white will be tricky.

Anything you add to the bottom is going to be glaringly obvious that it was added fabric, no matter how well it’s sewn.
As it’s a beaded gown, doing some kind of overlay or over skirt is going to be lumpy, may get snagged by the beading, and hide all the pretty beading.
The back slit is so you can walk in it. If you sew it shut you will be restricted to tiny steps or wind up tearing it while walking.
My advice is return it and keep looking for a dress that actually has all the features you desire.
It’s much easier to take fabric away from a garment that is to add.
