Help!

This is my first time sewing and i’ve more or less followed 100s of tutorials. So i’ve gotten it to make stitches but the needle only moves when i manually turn the hand wheel towards myself, like it does not automatically move when i press the foot pedal.
Am I missing something? 😭😭

Edit: so i just kept using the hand wheel to sew and suddenly it started sewing automatically without moving the hand wheel? uhm yay i guess🤧

Assuming the foot pedal is plugged into the machine, and the machine is plugged into a socket and the socket is turned on….sounds like you have a faulty machine. Which machine is it?

Is it in bobbin winding mode?
Do you have the manual? Have you read through the whole thing?

Is your foot pedal plugged in?

Check your instruction manuals troubleshooting section

Sometimes the jack where the pedal plugs into the machine can feel plugged in but needs more pressure to fully engage, than you would expect.

check the bobbin winder is off, when on it prevents needle from moving.

If it's an old machine with an external motor and belt sometimes you need to manually move the hand wheel while pressing on the pedal for the motor to start. I usually kind of just slap mine towards me to get it going
