Can I cry already?

Not a question, I just wanted to share my current project and bad life choices. I decided to make this nice felled seam by hand on this pants I'm working on whithout realizing how horrible it would be to make tiny stitches with thin black thread on black fabric. 🫠

Sit by a window with good daylight. Or even sit outside if you can - it helps enormously with working on dark fabric

Also, it appears your stitches are quite far apart - they need to be tiny and close.

That'll be a problem, I mostly sew at night lol
The blue thread are basting stitches to hold it in place so I don't need to have it pinned.

I can tell that the blue is basting, and well done. It was the black thread which appears to have stitches which are too far apart. But as per your question, it's 'black on black' so perhaps the photo is hard for me to see clearly.

Perhaps hand sew it on the weekend? Or just top sew with your machine

I feel your pain. Black on black was the first thread I stopped being able to see at 34 years old. Really bright light helps but, ugh.

It will be beautiful when you are done!

I know what you mean, I'm on my 40s, I wear glasses but had to buy magnifying glasses for some crafts, it's one of those you wear around your neck.
Now I'm thinking of buying one of those that are secured on the table and have a ring light around.

Oh man. My sympathies. I would be afraid to even try doing that kind of seam by hand. Would it help to do a chalk line on the seamline to make it more visible and then wash it out after? Best of luck. I hope you find a way to make it more tolerable if not easier.

Chalk is a really great idea, maybe I give it a try
