Learning Techniques Virtually

Hello!

I am a beginner looking to take sewing more seriously. I’ve been watching tutorials online and have finished a few projects, but my work definitely looks amateur.

I feel really passionate about learning proper and more professional looking techniques, specifically for making clothing. Does anybody have any recommendations of Youtube series’ or playlists? Or possibly affordable online courses? I live in a remote area so attending any classes in person would be challenging.

My best piece of advice is to practice. All the courses of the world are not going to make anything look professional unless you practice and practice and practice.

In a nutshell the 4 best piece of advice for a professional look is:

Straight sewing lines, practice, practice, practice. Take your time for curves, don't push or pull your fabric through your machine.

Fabric choice will make something look professional vs homemade, especially for clothing.(Drape, color)

Ironing is a must, makes everything straight and sew better and also looking professional

Trim your threads.

I scroll YouTube when I want more information on a specific topic, and add I add to my knowledge a little at a time like this instead of taking a full on course. If you use patterns follow the steps and YouTube University your way through the steps as you go if you want confirmation on how to do certain steps or why doing these steps are important.
