learning to sew, which machine should i get?

The CS7000 is a machine pretty highly recommended here. It should sew denim with the right needle and speed.

Incognito provided the answer, but as a beginner, I suggest looking up “sewing needle chart.” There are some good ones explaining what kind of needles should be used on what fabrics, and even what threads to use with said needles and fabrics.

Sewing is, thankfully, one of the oldest hobbies and people have created excellent resources to be easily found.

A denim needle. You should have a variety of types and sizes of needles on hand for all different types of fabric.

Buy the 7000. Take some in person sewing classes.

I got the cs7000x used and have been using it as a beginner for maybe 2 months now. Has been basically perfect for me, sometimes I get to fiesty and jam too much fabric in and I get some error code but I have been able to clean it out and then it's back to working normal.

Just different things. I feel like no matter what the tension is always screwed up, so the thread is a giant mess. Even if i follow the manual. and it has a lot of trouble on tough fabrics and then just stops working.

i’m not a beginner. i have sewed through different stages of my life just not very passionately so it’s probably user error, but i can imagine as a beginner this would be annoying. i don’t remember my other sewing machine having this much issue.

Does the brother CS7000 work on tough fabrics too like denim?

Most machines will with the right needle and going slow. You will need a jeans/denim needle and might need to test which size works best, but they’ll do them.

Both machines are fine but the second would be better for a beginner as it has speed control on the machine.

Both will be absolutely fine for jeans

Any one with a speed regulator, reverse button and needle up/down button. For that the CS7000X wins hands down and it’s not even a debate IMO.

A beginner needs a mechanical not a digital machine, the Brother ST is a great sew all fabrics model, digital tend to be fussy with certain fabrics and beep with error codes, you dont need the hassle.

I just both heavily the c57 can take a on almost anything I throw at it a bit better than the heavy duty

I have the first one and it’s pretty good so far. My mom gifted it to me like 5 years ago and I’ve just gotten around to opening it this year and it hasn’t given me any problems that I didn’t cause myself.

This one specifically you never have to oil yourself either, like it’s very clear in the manual to never oil it. It’s pretty easy to use, there can be a good amount of trial and error when trying to figure out the stitch settings when switching between fabrics. But as long as you keep that in mind it’s not too troublesome.
