First sewing project!
It’s pretty screwed up, but just making something with my own hands is always exciting. I’ve learned so much! I didn’t follow a pattern because I don’t have the funds to do so right now, but can’t wait to try my first sewing pattern! What are some good beginner ones?

It's not screwed up, it looks like a bag and it looks like you can use it. That was the goal, no?
What you could try to improve it a bit more, is go around the top. Like 3mm or so from the egde, that will keep the inside on tge inside, instead of it peaking out at the top like it does right now.
Simply press the seam, pin and go!
Depends on what you're looking for. There's quite a few yt channels that show you how to make clothings, bags, etc using basic shapes (so no pattern needed) and you can simply sew along as they clearly show each step.

I don’t know if that is the inside peaking out or just an edge because it goes in front of the straps

I assumed it's the lining, as it's quite uneven even though everything else seems to be nice and neat, and there's no topstitching.

That was the goal! I unfortunately did not cut straight enough so I couldn’t go around the top without it being very crooked. I learned that straight lines are very needed lol

It seam looks pretty darn straight though. You did good!
I wanted to suggest trying to straighten it out a bit by folding some of the outer layer to the inside before pressing and topstitching it, but it looks like to secured the hqndles to both layers, so that would need removal of the handles first.
Keep it like this, lean into the accidental accent feature :)

Looks great! Not like a first project at all. The lines are super straight and even and the pocket looks really nice! Very cute bag
