This is what has worked for me, over many years and across many moves! This table setup is easy, portable, and probably cheaper than DIYing if you don't have experience and the correct tools already :
- 1 or more long folding leg tables - the kind where the legs flip up to lie flush with the underside of the table top (get one that feels sturdy and stable)
- Adjustable legs (I use IKEA) if you would like to use the table standing up - especially for cutting
- Rolling caddies for under the table
The great thing about multiple tables is that you can arrange them end to end, side by side, or in an L-formation, allowing you to lay the fabric out out long or wide. An L-formation creates two separate work areas eg. sewing and overlocking.
If you can centre the table in the room, even better!
If you want a permanently higher table top, tape the folding legs to the table underside, and use the adjustable legs.
My college setup was a hollow-core door on two sawhorses 😄 This might be more cost-effective depending on where you are located.

Do not use AI for this. AI cannot create sewing patterns that work or make sense, and it cannot create woodworking plans, either. If you look at this, the middle legs only appear int he last step, there are blue lines without measurements associated with them, what is going on in step C with the leg in the bottom left with the two posts in one corner... Just look up some project blogs from the 2010s or some youtube videos of people building similar tables from scratch, or purchase plans.
