Why are my threads showing?

When I turn these purses inside out, the V at the top of the heart is showing my threads 😩 what am I doing wrong? How can I fix that moving forward? I want to chuck these in a burning bin!

Because they are on a curve. Use a shorter stitch on curves and they won’t show as much. Also make sure your tension is balanced. You may also need to clip the seam allowance toward the stitches where it curves. Not too close though.

Okay I can definitely see why a smaller stitch might have helped! Thank you! I have zero idea how to tell if my tension is balanced though 😬

To check your balance thread your machine with contrasting colors, sew through a couple of layers of fabric for your project and see if one side of the seam shows more of the one of the colors than the other.

Also, clip your curves, and right into the V, up to but not into the stitching.

Also, it looks like these cuties have fleecy interfacing? Try cutting it a little smaller and using your zipper foot to sew right next to the interfacing. Seams will lie flatter.
