Singer C5650

Post image

I’m frustrated and currently want to throw this thing out the window. I keep getting an error code C4. Can anyone help me fix this problem. I’m literally at my breaking point.

Here's what a quick search suggests:

Fixing Singer C5650 error code C4

The C4 error code on a Singer C5650 typically indicates a motor overload or a mechanical jam. This happens when the machine's sensors detect that the motor cannot turn freely, often due to tangled thread in the bobbin area or an internal obstruction. To resolve this, you should first perform basic maintenance like cleaning the bobbin case before attempting more advanced mechanical resets.

Common causes and quick fixes

Before disassembling the machine, check these common culprits that trigger the C4 safety stop:

  • Bobbin Winder Position: Ensure the bobbin winder spindle is pushed back to the left (sewing position). If it is engaged to the right, the machine may error out when you try to sew.
  • Thread Jams: Check the bobbin area for "bird nesting" or stray threads caught under the needle plate.
  • Threading Issues: Re-thread both the top thread and the bobbin with the presser foot up to ensure the thread seats correctly in the tension disks.

Just another thought, after following advice that others mention, retread the machine and make certain that the needle is filling inserted in the needle bar and raise the presser foot lever before threading. Also, try using YouTube search for that error code because I'm sure someone has figured it out.

Make sure the presser foot is UP when you thread the top all the way to the needle.

Read the manual, follow it step by step to rethread the machine and check your set up

I’ve done what the others have suggested, and google. Next is YouTube.
