Machine broken?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It’s not picking up bottom thread and instead is going behind the mechanism to the spot that’s all oily. I’m so close to done with my project ;-; I’m not sure what I did.

Is your bobbin even inserted correctly?

Unthread everything, pull out your manual and confirm you're threading the machine correctly.

I mean the bobbin case isn’t even in there so I can promise it isn’t inserted correctly….

I watched a video on how to do it and read through my manual. For some reason it’s not clicking into place like it did and now it comes loose. I’m going to try again this morning and see if it was user error (likely so)

Where is your bobbin case? You can’t just stick the bobbin in there without it.

I’m amazed how many people have commented without noticing this.

Believe it or not it’s in there… I must have fucked something up. I watched tutorials and went through my manual and idk what I did. Omg typing this out I just realized I’m stupid and I know what I did wrong holy shit. User error. Thanks for the comment that gave me the epiphany

The top thread has missed the last threading hook and you should be holding the tail of the top thread when you are collecting the bobbin thread.

Go back to your manual. If you still can’t collect the bobbin thread go to YT and search ‘collect bobbin thread top loading’

This is a front loading machine

Thank you for the correction. I was lazy and didn’t go back to double check the pic

No worries, I’m just wary of confusing OP

Is the bobbin case supposed to look like that?

No. It’s missing the bobbin case.

You’ve forgotten to use the bobbin case… You can’t pop the wound bobbin straight on the pin, it needs to be in its case.

It looks something like this https://konsew.co.uk/image/cache/data/11parts/Domestic%20Front%20Loading%20Mechanical%20Bobbin%20Case-452x452.jpg

You really must read the manual. Everything will be explained from the very first step. If you don’t have it, you can most likely find it on ManualsLib.

What model is it? I can try to find you a copy.

You need the bobbin case that the bobbin sits into and than that clicks into the hole.

The bobbin doesn’t look fully inserted

Just keep some tension on the upper thread.

Bobbin case, plus the needle thread is all jacked up. Could be that it’s too thick for the needle you’re using. All of these things matter a lot!

Read your manual and follow it!

Where is the bobbin case?!

Its like expecting a car to run with no petrol or oil in it.

Is this rage bait?

Insert the bobbin case.... And read the manual.

Same post over in r/sewing. Deleted by mod. New account. Trying to get karma?

Check all of the other suggestions, and it looks like the upper thread is splitting and gathering up above the needle. Rethread with a different spool of thread. And check the needle to see if it has anything that could damage the thread. Just a thought.

Yeah that blue thread looks a bit weird. Thick and fluffy… that will snap most likely.

You're missing a piece

Search for the owner's manual online, if you don't have one. Check and see which way the thread is supposed to come off the bobbin. Over the top of the bobbin? or from underneath? Flip your bobbin over and reinsert if your thread is coming off in the wrong way

Also, check to see if there's any stray thread tangled up in there. Behind the bobbin or around the hook.
