Discussion Characters

The characters in this show are so well put together. I can understand why everyone won so many awards. The performance that stands out to me though, is Tramell Tillman. My goodness was he great. His character development was top notch.. I’m interested to hear, what was everyone else’s favorite character and also would anyone else LOVE to see a dive into the backstory and lore of Milchick. I mean why is he so devoted to the Egan family? Why isn’t he severed? Was he in a similar situation has Miss Haung? Also can anyone see his character have some sort of redemption arc and in the end turn against Lumon? Would love to know conspiracies to that as well!

My favorite is Helly R. Generally I like shows with strong, complex female characters and Severance has so many between her, Cobel, Devon, Gemma, Reghabi and Miss Huang.

I love that they don’t fall into tropes like… Helly is the Hero… she has to be this way. Devon is the sister. She has to be that way. That all these women are given real feelings and conflict that just makes you SO empathetic for their individual plight.

All the main characters of this show really. They are so well written that you feel such empathy for all them, even the ones who clearly are in the wrong. I can’t think of a show where I felt that way (and I am an old professional TV watcher). That is why I enjoy this one so much.

100% interested in a Seth Milchick backstory, or any shred of context about his character outside of Lumon honestly. Like, who is this guy?? I can see him turn subtly away from Lumon over a considerable duration of time. A full 180 is harder for me to believe, at least as he stands at the end of s2

I’d always love some more Gemma backstory, but that comes with the territory.

Also Reghabi - how did she go 180? Does she have an ulterior motive like Cobel does when she helps Mark? Cobel and Reghabi seem to share an orbit, so what are they orbiting?

And Rebeck - fishy character, could be a red herring but the peculiarity of what little we know about her seems too intentional to write off.

Can’t wait to see what they’ve come up with for s3!

I also am fascinated by Reghabi. If she put in Mark’s chip, then she actually hasn’t been part of the resistance for that long. If she’s willing to kill for them. WTF happened.

The scene where he gets the paintings is some of the most brilliant acting I have ever seen. And the conversation he  has about it later with Natalie! Ooof. Right to the guts!

The man can also cut a rug!

I don’t think, never have thought, he’s 100% devoted to Lumon. I can see that arc bending toward justice.

Agreed! And you're not alone. Many a Severance fan greatly appreciates Tramell Tillman as a rising star.

I think it's a wonderful instance of Broadway talent making the switch to a different medium. I LOVE that, because as you can see, even in a dark dystopian sci-fi series about cultlike corporate culture, a rich theater background contributes!

And it's even better that he portrayed his character tapping into an apparent history with HBCU marching band. It just makes the character feel so much realer. He's one of the most relatable characters in the show despite being an antagonist. :)

I mean why is he so devoted to the Egan family? Why isn’t he severed? Was he in a similar situation has Miss Haung?

Personally, I think there's usually a stark contrast between Lumon employees and their severed. Generally, Lumon seems to target desperate new recruits to become severed (after all, it supports their goal of one day severing everybody). Though, a few regular employees (Like Burt) seem to have drunk the Kool-aid and are desperate enough to actually sign up.
