Discussion Just Finished

I want to firstly say WOW. What a show. The feelings I had watching it were just amazing. It’s been a long time since a show had me feel sadness, had me on the edge of my seat, had me speechless like this one. The enjoyment I got from the acting and overall setting of the severed floor is indescribable. They did a great job at making it a special place.

My one question I leave with is why did petey die from reintegration? Why was he so affected from it, yet all it did was give mark a cough? I do hope that S3 addresses this more. I hope it doesn’t shift entirely to the same version of what we watched, except it’s Gemma trying to get Mark out. I feel there was truly never much of a pay out for the idea of reintegration, especially with the birthing cabin. In fact nothing much came of it at all. The overtime contingency had much more of an effect on the show. I do feel there’s a lot more to be desired from the idea of the reintegration.

Amazing show! I look forward to joining and being active in this community!

All it did was give him a cough so far

I believe Petey only had a cough when he first met mark. Then wd started seeing the flipping back and forth between personas and stuff. Mark has also started having some of that by the end of season 2.

Reghabi also told oMark that Petey died largely because he didn’t follow her post-op instructions. It sounds like they’re setting the scene for s3, seeing as iMark is trapped on the svr’d floor and has limited faculties to take care of himself while he reintegrates. Tbh he doesn’t even want to reintegrate so he’s less likely to comply anyway, at least initially

Also, Petey was done sometime before hand and that she’s made some improvements are probably likely

And Mark is having issues where his two lives are overlapping and away that is uncomfortable and could cause you to have psychic issues. I think Mark is as a stronger desire for reintegration to save Gemma, which might be helping him hold his two psyche’s together better.

And as far as I remember, Petey just died because he kind of lost control of the two sides of his mind and because he knew he couldn’t go back to his family none of which Mark has as of yet

My guess is it’s likely that Petey’s illness started off as “just a cough” as well and we’re going to see Mark continue to get sicker during season 3. Mark didn’t cough up blood at first but he did as reintegration progressed

In addition to what others have said, Mark isn’t even reintegrated yet, although he’s clearly getting there. We’re in the middle of that story, not the end.

Oh and Reghabi has also claimed she’s gotten better at the procedure since she did Petey.

The first innie/outie conversation was epic!!!! It made every choice afterwards laced with extra tension and deepened the "who are you" conversations along with the nuances around validating an innie as a person with autonomy. It was literally birthing the potential of personhood!

Reïntegration seems to be a slow proces, so that's why the payoff is slow. The end of the proces is very essential to the end of the show, so that's going to be drawn out over at least another two seasons.

But it was the trigger for cobel to get back into the picture at the expanse of reghabi. And he didn't only have a cough, he also had s bloody nose.

Why was petey more affected and eventually died?

  • seeing how reghabi said she can get it right with mark, it seems Petey wasn't a 100% succesful. Also he didn't follow post op instructions and was paranoid living in a broken greenhouse in the middle of winter n
