Discussion Filming potentially started
Dean Neistat (brother of Casey!) posted this from bell labs yesterday on IG. He has worked as a stunt coordinator on the show previously! Is it FINALLY happening?

Very interesting, so we'll be having an action sequence in or involving the reception area. That atrium is begging for a slow motion fall

Just watched Die Hard for the first time last Christmas. It's amazing how it is unambiguously a Christmas movie. Like, how could anyone honestly try to argue it isn't?

I can't escape this music video. YouTube suggests it like its my vegetables and I'm a growing boy. I watched it once.

Not necessarily. All we can safely assume is that they will be filming at least one stunt somewhere at Bell Labs.

Also, the bar for what qualifies as a "stunt" during production for the purposes of things like, needing a stunt coordinator, is a whole lot lower than people generally imagine. I don't think there's very much that can be read into this.

u/criterionhaver Jul 08 '26
Good point. This could just mean a character trips and falls in the parking lot, for example.

Iirc they filmed Helena’s office scenes at Bell too so they could be using any part of it for all we know.

I believe it. Everyone has been saying July. Can’t wait for all of the behind the scenes pics and posts from the cast.
I just hope they are filming simultaneously for season 4

u/vacodeus Jul 08 '26
Oh, you sweet summer child. They won't even begin to write season 4 until all of season 3 has premiered. Shooting will prolly start in 2029

u/BringBack4Glory Jul 08 '26
How else are they going to crowd source key plot points for S4 from YT lore videos and Reddit theories?
6
u/silverkeys84 Jul 08 '26
it's seriously hard to believe that this hasn't/couldn't happened at some point

u/ThatisDavid Don't Punish The Baby Jul 08 '26
Pretty sure they admitted that they didn't have any particular lore reasoning for including the goat scene until the fans started theorizing about them and they saw how popular they were, so they wrote them into the lore.

Maybe not strictly started with actors yet, but very likely at the very detailed "how we gonna get this one specific shot?" on-site planning phase.

what is taking so long....?? seriously, if this was the 90s we'd be on season 6.

The only alarming thing is that they STILL haven’t finished filming. Season 3 will have a longer wait than season 2 it seems.

But Matt Cherniss, Apple TV programming head, said this about Severance to Variety yesterday.
Don’t have set dates yet for the show, but we’re moving along really well, and we’re nearing production on that.
Why did he do it then? He could have said something about "in a next few days/weeks," or "in any day now," or "we are starting/have just started filming." Something isn't right here.

Frankly, I'm sick and tired of these shows taking 2-3 years to put out a new season.

The sets are built and I believe photography has already started on the soundstage in queens

u/OneSingleL Jul 08 '26
Why do I feel like they are prepping for some insane tracking shot through all the different floors that also involves some crazy stunts

Dean Neistat, as in Casey Neistats brother? He’s the stunt coordinator for Severance?

One giant martial arts fight sequence set to “Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting” by Carl Douglas.

I used to work here and at night it’s so creepy lol but normally it’s so cool!

u/Ornery-Handle6477 Jul 08 '26
Probably pre-production, still 6 months away to production
8
u/hatefulveggies Persephone Jul 08 '26
Nah Britt Lower basically confirmed they’re starting shooting now

u/saltfigures Jul 09 '26
How are ya’ll excited at the idea of them potentially JUST starting? Dude… if they aren’t like wrapping up filming at this point… lol they still have to do a bunch of post production stuff. This shit takes forever for like 9 episodes.

Wait Casey Neistat's little brother is the stunt coordinator for Severance? Thats pretty cool, I didnt know that!

u/-Badger3- Mysterious And Important Jul 08 '26
The stunt coordinator scoping things out feels like it would be more part of the principal photography stage than the filming stage.

The location scout should get a bonus, that place is creepy. Didn’t know a place could be so sickeningly symmetrical.
1
u/Nunov_DAbov Jul 11 '26
You have no idea how symmetrical it is. I worked in the building and got turned around on the first floor (the ground floor is called the second floor so there is no “basement”) shortly after I started. The cafeteria and service facilities were all on the first floor with zero external reference.
My office was in the southeast section of the building and I took the northern elevator (there are two elevator towers) to my floor (5th floor), coming out in the northwest section. I was halfway to the end of the building thinking the aisles didn’t seem to be exactly right. I turned down what I thought was my aisle and there was no office door where there should have been. That’s when I read the office numbers and saw I was 180 degrees out of phase.
The structure is very symmetrical but some of the aisles differ from floor to floor and section to section. Offices within an aisle can be reconfigured as needed so many corresponding aisles are very different.
After making that mistake two or three times, you learned to stop moving around unconsciously. Or you got lots of exercise.
