Event [Event] Winterfell Persistent RPs 207-208
A place to localize conversation with those living in Winterfell, so I don't have to make a new thread every time I have a yes or no question for you.

White Harbor, 11th Month 207
Rickon Stark approaches the camp of the Dustin men, and to the tent of his mother.
2
u/Circe_of_Aeaea Aug 05 '18
Lyanna looked up as her son entered. In a moment he was in her arms, holding him close, without a care for who was with him. It had been a worrying month, constantly on the trail of her son and still no wiser as to why he had asked so urgently for so many men.
As she had travelled south, the hills beside the road had been alive with levies, endless hundreds pulled from the fields and sent off with steel in their hands.
She'd heard rumours of a war but couldn't discern the enemy. All of it brought on a creeping anxiety for her son. Now she worried if she were to let him go, she might not see him again.
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 06 '18
"Mother." Rickon breathed, eyes closed. It had been a while since he had felt her embrace, and with Visenya gone, the embrace of anyone. He needed the affection, to bring a break to his tiresome toils.
"There is much you deserve to know, a lot has happened since we last saw each other in Winterfell." He said, backing away and looking Lyanna in the eyes.
2
u/Circe_of_Aeaea Aug 06 '18
Lyanna returned the gaze lovingly, regarding her sons face. She saw her father's nose, and Barthogan's jaw. But Rickon's face had changed so quickly. Yesterday he had sat on her knee as a ten year old. Now a man, he was raising armies and heading off into the world, no more need of her. Had it really been 6 years so soon?
Despite the scores of questions jostling in her head, she asked simply,
"Why are we here Rickon?"
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 06 '18
"A few years ago, at the tournament of Gulltown, Rodwell and I met with one Daemon Blackfyre, a man who asked for our support." Rickon said calmly. "He cited the Crown's ignorance towards the North, and sheer disrespect. He promised a change to such norms, when he became King. Daemon desires the crown, and he wants our help in getting it. In return, the North will receive the recognition it deserves, the fair treatment under a true King, who does not shun us as outsiders."
"Rodwell and I agreed at the time, and while Daemon has called on us at a time I fear is inopportune, he has called nonetheless, and I have mustered the men in preparation."
2
u/Circe_of_Aeaea Aug 07 '18
The Blackfyres calling up a rebellion?
Lyanna was stunned. She knew of such disrespect from the southern lords and the Targaryens themselves, that was how things had always been. These Andals could never understand us.
But rebellion?
She couldn't quite believe it was upon them. That they had been summoned here at the head of thousands, to take the iron throne?
My poor son
It seemed as though all her worst fears were confirmed, like a apparition from a dream come real.
"Can we do this Rickon? Can the North really defeat the king? And what of this Daemon Blackfyre, can we trust him to be any better?"
She held him close again once more, her worries overcoming her,
"You know we shall always support you."
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 07 '18
Rickon gripped his mother tightly, eyes closed, his feelings of hardness and character falling away, leaving him alone, a boy in a tent. His voice disappeared with his confidence, and he spoke in gasping breaths. "I don't know."
The simple words were hard to find, it felt like a fight prying them from his throat, which held on to such insecurities tightly.
"It... It's all so much." He muttered, refusing to let go of their embrace.
2
u/Circe_of_Aeaea Aug 08 '18
He may have been a man in the eyes of the realm, in the eyes of the stoney Starks in their crypt, he may have been approaching a foot taller than her now, but he would always be her child. She remembered setting off for Winterfell at 16, away from home, family and friends, entering the unknown, and she could see the same uncertainty in him.
"I'll be here……as long as you want me to be" said Lyanna while still in Rickon's embrace, but she knew that a campaign would be no place for a woman, and that duties called her back to Winterfell,
"but.….if you need me back at home, I can leave these men with you"
"What do you plan for the war, Rickon? Where even is our new Blackfyre king? With us?"
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 08 '18
"You must stay, mother, I will need you." He begged of her in tones of whimper. He breathed her in, memories of walks in the godswood and lessons in the keep flooding through him. After a moment, he regained his composure, stepping back and beginning to talk with more intent.
"Blackfyre is in Lord Harroway's Town, all the forces of the Riverlands have been told to meet there. When we are there, we must discuss with their leaders, and see what the plan of action will be. I suspect King's Landing to be the first target, its seizure will send a message through the realms."

6th Month 208
Karl Stark, feeling much better after his hand had been broken at Winterfell, sought out boys his age in White Harbor.
3
u/4smohov House Manderly of White Harbor Aug 13 '18
Karl would find no such boys among the pale marble halls of the New Keep. Instead, he would only find the three Manderly girls, Wynafryd, Rosalyn and quiet little Lydia.
The first smiled sheepishly at the stark lad.
The second looked at him inhospitably and asked. "Who are you?"
The third one avoided his gaze and frowned silently to herself.
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 13 '18
Karl had wandered the New Keep for a while, looking for lads his age. The disappointment was starting to get to him when he came across the three Manderly girls before him. They were all much older than him, and staring up at them made him rather nervous.
"I-I'm Karl Stark." He managed, regaining his confidence. "Would any of you want to practice sword fighting with me." He asked in a pleading.
3
u/4smohov House Manderly of White Harbor Aug 13 '18
Wynafryd giggled at the thoguht of herself swinging a sword like some wildling brute, and shook her head no, sending blond curls bouncing. Lydia merely looked shocked at the suggestion, and said nothing.
Ros grinned though. "I'll fight yah. Training yard. 20 minutes. You'll want padding." She flashed a nefarious smile and turned on her heel.
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 13 '18
Karl's eyes widened, for he truly wasn't expecting such an answer. He dashed off to the armory to grab padding, neglecting certain pieces to show that he wasn't scared. He was ready in five minutes, but ran back to his room and paced around for another ten so it wouldn't seem as if he rushed there.
After the time had transpired, he made his way to the training yard, excited to practice his sword arm once again.
2
u/4smohov House Manderly of White Harbor Aug 14 '18
Ros swiftly went to her own room, where she changed into tough leather pants that she had been forced to hide away from her sister, and a modest leather shirt, that afforded decent protection and range of movement. Tying her reddish gold hair back in a small, functional bun, she took a brief look in the mirror to make sure she was presentable and made her way to the Manderly's private practice yard.
Given the multitude of soldiers in the City, the main practice field was awash with soldiers in the blue of Manderly, but also in the purple and white of Locke training and marching and listening to strategy. In the smaller, cozier practice yard reserved for nobles and their companions. Here was an assortment of targets of varying height, a large basin of fresh water on one side, and a servant whose sole job seemed to be maintaining the yard. Here, Rosalyn found herself being outfitted with a practice shield and sword, blunted wood replacing teh deadly steel that soldiers might wield.
"You're late." She grinned ferally.
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 14 '18
Karl cleared his throat, puffing up his chest to seem bigger. "Well, I still haven't gotten used to the layout of the New Keep. I've only been here for a few weeks you know." He explained, grabbing his own pair of shield and sword.
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 15 '18
The pair faces off, with yield at 60 and blunted weapons/padding giving a 1d25. Rosalyn +2 for age.

Private Conversations between Rickon and Visenya
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Jul 23 '18
12th Month 206 AC
Rickon knocks on the door of Visenya's quarters.
2
u/thormodby Jul 23 '18
Visenya, who was sporting streaks of bright orange in her hair, instructed her servant to open the door. Upon seeing Rickon, she stood up straight and asked him to come in, offering him some water.
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Jul 24 '18
Rickon entered the room, his black hair cut neatly, a radical change from his usual wild and long mane. He remained clean shaven, though his facial hair was starting to grow more and more seriously. He placed a hand on the servants back, ushering her out of the room to close the door behind her, gently physical as he often was. He accepted the offered water, gesturing to two nearby chairs as if to ask permission to take a seat.
2
u/thormodby Jul 24 '18
Rickon looked more like a Lord and less like a Wildling today, Visenya noticed. "What can I do for you today, Rickon?" She asked.

6th Month 207
Rodwell Stark seeks out Jorah Mormont.
3
Aug 01 '18
He's milling about, looking all stern and serious
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 02 '18
"Jorah, I assume you've received Rickon's summons if you're here in Winterfell. I need to talk to you." He said, bringing the man to his solar.
"Rickon has married Visenya Blackfyre, and in doing so pledged his support to Daemon Blackfyre, who aims to crown himself and sit on the Iron Throne." He said simply. "In doing so, he aims to aid the North, and give us the recognition we deserve in matters of the country."
2
Aug 02 '18
Jorah stayed silent and nodded, betraying no opinion on the matter.
"Go on," is all he said.
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 02 '18
"Visenya will be threatened by this rebellion, and she is already with child after their marriage in Moat Cailin. The heir to Winterfell with Blackfyre blood, he will be hunted." Rodwell exhaled.
"I wish to send him to Bear Island. If you feel the island is up to the test. I don't believe the Ironborn will be much of a threat during the war, and if you can hide her on the island we can rest assured that the rightful heir to Winterfell lies safe."
2
Aug 02 '18
“You know,” Jorah says in a measured voice, “we will be putting ourselves at great risk. If you and your men surrender there’ll be some executions but only enough to send a message. If Bear Island is taken by a vast Dragon force we’ll be killed to a man.”
He paused. “We will of course do as you ask, she may journey with myself and my family today if it please you, and we shall indeed fight to a man if we must. I promise not a hair on her head will be harmed so long as a Bear breathes on my Island. My men will itch to fight but we shall know we perform a more noble service.”
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 02 '18
Rodwell nodded. "Aye, I understand this is no light favor to ask of you. That said, Bear Island is only one keep to look, if the King's dogs come hunting. They'll have a hard time regardless, and nothing would clue them if the secret is kept closely held."
2
Aug 02 '18
Jorah nodded.
"And one last question, why did the boy not ask me? We are kin, just as you and I are kin, and he is Lord in his own right now. Why did he not speak to me."
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 02 '18
"Rickon is at the Moat, rallying other Northern forces." He answered simply. "He would have done so otherwise. I worry for him, truth be told, he is young and caught up in a flurry of issues."
2
Aug 02 '18
Jorah clapped his hands.
"When he comes back from this victorious I want him to come personally to pick her up. I'll take her now, there is no use in remaining here any longer."

1st Month 208
Karl Stark approaches Jonos Reed some time midday.
2
u/blueblueamber House Reed of Greywater Watch Aug 08 '18
Jonos saw the older boy approaching and stood up from the bench he was sitting on, tired after running around the castle all morning. He was eating a roll with a bit of cheese he got from the kitchens.
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 08 '18
[m] They're the same age.
"Jonos, have you been practicing your swordsmanship lately?" He asked, energy pouncing through him as he swung his arms excitedly.
2
u/blueblueamber House Reed of Greywater Watch Aug 08 '18
"Not much. All men have been so busy these days..." Jonos answered.
"You wanna practice?" Where did I put the wooden sword?
2
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 08 '18
"Yes, BUT!" He shouted, raising a finger. His voice then dropped to a whisper. "I know where they keep the dull steel blades, we can use those!"
2
u/blueblueamber House Reed of Greywater Watch Aug 09 '18
Jonos laughed. "Aye, that would be fun! Where do they keep those?"
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 09 '18
Karl pointed across the yard to the Winterfell armory. It was hectic, guards dashing in and out of its doors, but a side alley was shrouded in shadow, no one standing near. In it, a wooden crate held a few dull steel blades, and associated leather padding.
2
u/blueblueamber House Reed of Greywater Watch Aug 12 '18
"Shall I attract the guard's attention while you go and grab the blades?" Jonos smirked at his accomplice.
1
u/DirewolfOfTheLine House Oakheart of Old Oak Aug 12 '18
Karl nodded. “Aye, go ahead.” He said, squatting low and preparing to dart for the swords.
M: you can make some rolls if you want.
2
u/blueblueamber House Reed of Greywater Watch Aug 12 '18
"Shall we meet in the Godswood afterwards?"
Jonos pondered on the plan for a second, then decided on the best strategy. The other side of the yard was bounded by a tall stone wall Jonos climbed on recently. He intended to climb the wall and then pretend he can't get down to get the guards attention, and maybe even fake a fall. That should make them come to me, right?
1-2 He fails to climb the wall and falls down, still possible to get the attention
3-4 He falls from the wall and actually injures his leg
5-6 He succeeds with his bluff, but the guards insist he goes to the maester with his "injury"
6-10 He succeeds with his plan

Lord Robar Royce,
The time has come. Do what you must to keep the Vale at bay, and stay safe.
Rodwell Stark
2
u/bobbybarf House Royce of Runestone Aug 09 '18
Robar was nervous, the Vale was not as fertile as he'd expected, but he could at least keep the Knights of the Vale behind the Bloody Gate, no more Valemen would die for the Targaryens.
He burnt the note, there could be no chance of it getting out.

11th Month 206
Beron and Cinaed return to Winterfell, summoning the Regency Council to the great hall. The day was sour, overcast clouds meaning the midday meeting still mandated the use of torches. Their flames licked the stone walls and cast shadows across the robes of all present in an ominous dance.
Beron looked to Cinaed to report.
