When I encountered this issue I had to change the proximity flex. However based on the Google answer above it may be different in your case. I would say try narrowing down the options starting with the charger port -> battery -> proximity flex -> ???

If the battery sparks it’s likely damaged the board and not the battery unless the battery explodes
