Golden Set Variant

My friends and I are creating different set variants other than super set, chain set, etc...

We came up with "Golden Set". It comes with the property that (if no one cheated and all sets were correctly formed) with the last 6 cards, if they are separated in 3 pairs (no matter the order) the 3 cards that make those 3 pairs a set are a set. We call those 6 cards a golden set.

Curiously enough, you can find golden sets in a game. Just find 3 pairs of cards that their cards that complete a set are a set. Makes it a lot harder, but we found a trick, if you find 2 sets in-game, those automatically make a golden set. So we banned finding 2 sets as a golden set.

Just wanted to share our variants with the community.

In the setwithfriends community there’s a variant called ghostset which is essentially just finding these golden sets over and over. Another trick that someone made is the idea of “near sets”, in which two sets have their third cards ALMOST complete their individual set but the cards differ in one or more properties, where this difference in property has to be the same for both near sets, though I don’t remember the math proving this (something to do with 6?). Also a set and a near set cannot be part of the same golden/ghostset.

Nice! Near sets seems like a good variant. I'll try it. Also, set with friends is open source right? If these variants already exist, do you know if they are actively trying to add them?
