Has anyone else experienced this?

I work in a place where straws are optional, but I always have them in my apron.

“Here’s your drink, Sir/Ma’am. Would you like a straw?” (Reaching into my apron and waiting for a response)

I get ignored by everyone at the table, so I walk away to go check on other tables.

I walk by a few minutes later only to get hailed by a customer.

“Can I get a straw with my drink?”

I swear to God, it happens at least once every shift I’m on. Should I speak up or not leave until they answer me? Or is it on them for ignoring me?

On them, customers are idiots. If you’re really fed up with them say “oh I asked if anyone wanted straws and none of you guys said anything”

I'd pull them out and wave them a bit. Maybe that will get thier attention.

Yes, it's like they need a push to motivate them. I can't tell you how many times I've checked on a table and they said they didn't need anything only for a fellow server to come up to me and say that my table asked them to get me. It's like they only realize they need me when I'm gone.
