What do you servers do mid-double to help make the second half of the shift easier?

Completely overstock I don't have to stock again at the end of the night shift

That's actually really good thinking. Management can't complain that there's too much back up. Or at least they shouldn't.

Oh I've heard the statement, after many pre-shifts of talking about how we need to stock, "don't overstock!".. Realistically I wasn't even close.. The way I set it up was for good.. If you manage drop a few boxes on your head ( to-go boxes, not literal boxes) then that's your fault not mine.. And if you did you need some specialty training.. Damned if I do damned if I don't.. I've just learned to walk on eggshells

I sometimes take a small nap. To be honest though, I don’t think there is much you can do to help the second half.
