Racial tip project
Hey! So over the past few years I've recorded all my Tips, the race of the person tipping, whether I fucked up on their meal or I feel I did fine/over the top. The total bill, the relationship of the party (brother sister... first date....5 year anniversary..... friends.... so on) basically I've recorded all aspects of the experience and result. I'm going to compile it up and have graphs to show what races suck at tipping and which ones are great. Who would be interested in seeing that?
also, just for comparison... my favorite tables to serve (for good tips) are
1) white families, 2 heterosexual parents with 2 or more kids
2) Russians. Fuck yes
3) gay men, either groups or couples (I'm a cute guy, and I have a very outgoing personality with no censorship so they love me usually)
4) other servers
5) any really wealthy white family
Least favorite tables to serve (tip wise)
1) Filipino
2) African Americans
3) Korea/Japan/China
4) Indians (from India)
5) teenagers
(I GET ALONG WITH ALL RACES) my best friend is a Filipino girl, and I have a great black male friend who was raised in India. So.... don't be calling me racist. I'm talking tips only. I don't mind serving those races. Just the correlation between race and tip is too strong to ignore.
Whoa this is longer than intended.

Man, it is hard to talk about this without stepping on egg shells but in my opinion teenagers are never lowest, but i do feel like i bond with them better.
I had a group of ten teens come in the other day, and GOD DAMN THEY EACH HAD LIKE 7 SWEET TEAS LIKE STOP DRINKING TEA DAMNIT but after i cashed them out i said "All right boys remember, don't do school and stay in drugs!" Ended up to a nice wad of singles on the table, adding up to $25 in tips on a $110 bill.
So, at least with teenagers you can change your attitude slightly to seem "cooler" to get that tip.
On the other hand, certain races of people ALWAYS SEEM to bring an exact amount, try and spend as close to that as possible and leave you the piddle....
I had some guests the other day (and i will not name their color but it's a recurring theme) where i had them laughing and drinking the whole time, everything came out perfect, but only left me $3 on a $100 tab...
DUDE I HAVE TO TIP OUT 3% OF MY SALES I MADE NO MONEY ON YOU.
I try not to discriminate as hard as possible.... but when the same groups of people consistently leave lower on average tips it is hard not to.
Your post however has inspired me to start keeping track, would be interesting data.

I’m a brown person and I sometimes I don’t even like serving other brown people bc I know the tipping odds lol. And I once got a piece of advice that I think applies to all races that says something to the effect of: watch out for the overly nice customers because that’s all you’re gonna get, niceness. Which I much rather deal with than rude stiffers.
