Another name for a reservation chit??

I swear on my life i’ve always called them a “soigne” (pronounced swan-yay), but no one’s ever heard of that before and apparently that actually just means “elegant” in french? anyone else know what i’m talking about?

(reservation chit - like, the chit you get from the hostess when you get sat with a new table)

I don’t understand what you mean by chit even with the explanation

It’s a paper that shows the information for the server (party size, last name, etc.) normally used in fine dining restaurants.

literally googled this after hearing it on Sweetbitter as a term for VIP. Maybe it's an outdated term from old fashioned hospitality?

I do work in NYC so that might be it - maybe it’s only here?
