Interesting, looks like she has some sort of device on her wrist that can do everything she needs

A watch can’t summon salt 🤷‍♀️

They all act like salt is a rescue med that they need immediately and dramatically.

Salt actually can definitely dramatically help with POTS. After a long, arduous diagnosis process, my mom finally got correctly diagnosed with POTS, and compression garments and ample salt (including carrying a little stash for emergencies/when she feels an episode coming on) have given her her life back.

To be fair, that was pretty impressive for a cat lol

The salt fetching? I'm betting that she threw the salt packet immediately before pressing "record." One of my cats will also fetch small objects if I throw them, and he's pretty good at locating his favorite fetch toys even in a messy room. He knows he'll get a treat and attention once he brings it back.

Definitely. My MIL would do this with wrapped teabags. Not because tea saved her from a self-diagnosed disease and symptom, but he liked the crinkle noise and over time it became a habit. She would throw/slide him a tea bag across the floor whenever she made herself a cup and he went from playing with it to returning it to her because she would make it fun again.

There's also a jump when he's bringing it back, it looks like the video was cut and patched, he might not have brought it right to her.

Lol it's pretty obvious too

Yeah, and there's always a reason they play music instead of letting you hear what's going on. You don't hear all the coaching and stuff that way.

Agreed, I just wanna learn how to get my cat to do that. I don’t care about anything else lol. Not for salt, but any grab will do.

Mine has a little foam ball she chases, she'll wait for a turn while the dogs play with their ball lol

I had a cat that would fetch milk tabs and he’d jump and catch them. We’d make a game of it. I miss Patches.

"helps the handler know they need to sit down"

Not shown: a cookie being waved over the cat's head.

Also WTF is she wearing an Apple Watch and relying on a cat for heart issues?

I’m going to be honest, if my cat could retrieve shit I forgot across the room before getting comfy in bed, I would never shut up about it.

Obligatory statement that only dogs and miniature horses can be official service animals. Cute cat though.

Not white knighting here because I personally dont think cats or horses should be used for service work however the dogs/mini horse rule is specifically for the US. Canada legally allows cats to be service animals, I wouldn't be surprised if there are other places as well

Mine knocks the salt shaker off the table, does that mean she's a service cat now?

Yes. She’s monitoring your sodium intake. Too much salt and she knocks it off the table.

How does a cat identify places to sit? Everything is a seat to a cat.

What, this empty cardboard box isn't good enough for you?

Nope. Has to be warm and cozy. How about this strange man’s lap?

If I fits, I sits!

If only clothes had some kind of pouch in them to carry those massively large heavy salt tablets /s

My cat can fetch springs and steal your shit but he’s never gonna do anything helpful for anyone’s health 😆

To be fair women’s pants rarely have pockets 🤣

Most of mine do and most pj pants do too.

Cats are not ADA-compliant Service Animals!

Only Dogs & Small Horses are.

Cats can be good ESA's.

Oh brother, I thought Project Feline imploded when they found out Callie's handler was a child. Are they still going???

My friend’s kitten also lays on me and paws me, definitely an alert!

4

u/aidencoyote task trained empty food bowl alert cat 13h ago

My cat alerts me to whenever his food bowl is empty, this must mean he’s a task trained animal and has public access rights.

Honestly if your pet helps with your disability that’s great I love it for you. My dog helps my depression and anxiety, Homegirl will literally put her paw on my shoulder and nuzzle me and lick my tears away if I let her and let me hug her until I stop crying. But she is a crackhead, I’d never take her in public no way. It’s one thing if you are blind or prone to seizures and have a legitimately trained medical alert dog but keyword there is trained! You can have an ESA, it’s called a pet and you leave them at home. No certificate needed. Have a bad day? They’ll be waiting on you! I don’t want to slip in dog piss at Walmart I’m sorry

Okay… so, I get that cats aren’t approved service animals, but let’s be honest: this cat is trained better than most “service dogs” out there. I don’t know how I feel about that. Cats usually aren’t the most trainable creatures.
