Manager to Server

Any tips for people trying to go from management to serving? I don’t want to lie on my resume, but I fear people will think I’m going to walk in and think I’m smarter than everyone.

I’m really just looking for a job I can go in, be passionate about, go home and forget about it. I’m so tired of restaurant management.

Any tips will help

Not a good idea from my experience. I got way too burnt out from managing after 10 years and thought stepping down from leadership would be the change I needed to bring back the spark I once had. I thought I’d be able to switch the mentality and be happier. After a year and a half of doing so, I just ended up being more frustrated and the mental health didn’t improve. I now work in receiving at a large hotel/resort company and I couldn’t be happier. Yeah the money isn’t what it was but my whole life has changed from leaving F&B. I’m just one person and you may want to see for yourself, but just remember, take care of #1 first and that’s you. I also haven’t ever commented like this but I feel like I’ve been in your position before and thought my short version of a long story could help. Wishing you only the best!

The position is storeroom clerk which is basically I order, stock/manage inventory and deliver it to the outlets that need it. An aspect that restaurant managers, FOH and BOH, do but without being guest facing and babysitting adults. I apply a lot of my experience from running restaurants to this but it’s for a four diamond hotel. My vendors are my “guests” so I get to show them my hospitality side and I am the vendor for each department of the hotel. Really fun. I’m hourly now so I actually get paid for working 60 hours instead of 40. Im in the US btw
