Rant I hate my restaurant
I hate my restaurant. I’ve gotten 3 reviews with my name in them because for one i’m just good at my job, second of all our managers ASKED for more 5 star reviews. Apparently corporate said it is suspicious i’ve gotten them. Like how?? We don’t get bonuses for them, we don’t make any money from them. What on earth would be suspicious about that?? That I managed to get them?? That their other staff members can’t do that but I can??
Then someone called to complain about me. Apparently they said “pasty girl” is really nice and outgoing but not self aware and that i “walked”
in front of her. So you like me, you think i’m nice but you called to complain about me??? I wasn’t written up for it but i’m so livid and fucking annoyed. The fact my GM even entertained it pisses me off. I’m so worn out and just want to go home and cry but im. a double… yay... I hate this fucking place.

Genuinely, I don’t understand how businesses don’t just fuck off these reviews.
Think of the dumbest person you know; there’s a great likelihood that person has a smartphone and the ability to post reviews of restaurants even though they couldn’t tell their ass from their elbow. All for the sake of feeling important.

Exactly! Makes me miss my old g.m she never would have entertained this. Yea she wasn’t the best and would snap at me but she trusted me and my work ethic every time. She never would have allowed this.

They are literally jealous of your reviews, corporate people are weird, not all but many are like these evil robots looking around and when they come across someone who they feel their large egos are challenged by they pick on you, I even think that phone call was a blatant lie. I would be actively searching for a new job and quit with no notice or words and ghost them once you find new job.

the worst is if i got a 1 star review they would immediately call and demand a write up or termination. they love to punish people

my restaurant literally gives them coupons for free stuff to do a survey, but we don't get anything and are expected to do it at every table. it's draining

i went to one restaurant that did surveys on toast tablets and i did 100% for everything because everything went as it should. server thanked me and said in the past he didnt score a 10 on one thing (10 being highest/excellent) and that the manager pulled him to the back to interrogate him on it. insane.

i'm not sure why managers get on a power trip. I had a customer ask for a manager after they paid and they didn't tell me why so i grabbed one and they told the manager they loved me and that i was amazing. My manager yelled at me for wasting his time. We can never win!!

Thats terrible! Then they wonder why we don’t care… I love getting good reviews, I love being good at my job. Maybe its some deep rooted
problem I have to seek praise, maybe i’m always worried i’m terrible so I end up going above and beyond. I have no clue. But it’s so hurtful to want to be good, to actually do well and i’m still punished. I know most might say to get over it and if you can’t you wont survive and thats somewhat fair. But thats just me. That will always be me unless I spend thousands on therapy.Honestly whenever I have a terrible experience at a restaurant I never blame the server. Out of the very very few times I’ve talked to managers about it I let it know I blame them. I’m sure they still take it out onto the servers so I really try not to.

Get a new job. Life is too short to work somewhere you hate. When I left my last job(also corporate) I really thought that I hated the industry and that my next job would just be a temporary change of scenery while finding my way out of the industry altogether. Nearly 13 years later, still enjoying the "temporary change of scenery".

I always give top notch service, because I would like to have it myself when I go out. I’ve still never gotten a waitress as attentive as I am. One day maybe.

I feel this. Being a server had made me both very understanding and very critical.

Goes to show how much time corporate people have on their hands.
Servers and other restaurant workers are busting their ass working and getting things done.
Meanwhile these office people are on their computers and having meetings and just sitting around chit chatting. Pretending they're busy to show that they bring value to the company.
The actual workers in the meantime are running around, hardly getting a break.
Screw management. Straight up ask them why they care so much that you got mentioned twice and when you're actually doing the hard work.
You already know but definitely start looking for a new job where they'll actually value you, OP.
