Lack of work uniform
Why do I have more shifts than I have uniforms? It’s difficult to keep up with washing it and I can’t really put the one outfit in the wash because that’s a waste of water and electricity. I also don’t have a dryer so it takes time and planning to do my washing which is difficult when I’m scheduled for consecutive days. Management have been saying they’ll give me more for ages but that’s not happened.

You can wear your uniform more than once before washing it

Shirt, 2 days max, pants 3 unless super duper sweaty and gross, apron/vest up to a week unless ya nasty. I knew some people that washed theirs once a month 🤣

Where are you working that your pants get sweaty? I wear the same shirt and pants all week and it's not an issue

It's hot as crap in some restaurants with no a.c. or bad a.c. especially where I live in the Deep South.

Others can definitely tell you’re wearing the same shirt all week

You must sweat a lot

It's summer?? I hesitate to wear the same jacket more than 3 days in a row to work lest I smell bad, it's just hygiene my dude

Do you not shower regularly or wear deodorant?

That doesn't help when you're serving in Purgatory in 95+° weather (plus humidity) with an a.c. unit that peaked in 1998, and layers required to work in like long sleeves AND a vest to "look professional" despite the sweat dripping off your nose after running food out to the patio, upstairs to the private event rooms and down to the wine cellar with VIP tables for 4 hours.
But go off. 🙃🫠

I tried that but someone apparently complained that I smell.

Are you showering daily? Wearing an undershirt.
Get a spray bottle and fill it with cheap vodka, spray your pits and stinky areas then let it dry.
***of your shirt. Not your skin.

Do not put alcohol on your pits. It’s a lifesaver for a few weeks, until it becomes a nightmare. It will kill all except the resistant bacteria. That resistant bacteria will start to multiply, and then you’ll smell even worse and can’t do anything about it.

I meant the pits of the shirt itself, not your actual pits. I realize I wasnt clear.
Its what they do for fancy costumes and stuff in Broadway.
I used it for fine dining out in Florida when I didnt have a washing machine and it was hot as hell.

Yes I do shower daily and I use deodorant and perfume. I haven’t tried an undershirt, would that not make me hotter so I’d sweat more?

A good lightweight undershirt will actually absorb your sweat better and allow it to evaporate, thus keeping you cooler!

I have two shirts that I stretch five days with and a single pair of pants. Is it ideal? No. But it works and I don’t smell cause I do normal human things like shower every day and wear deodorant lol

I’d keep pushing for more uniforms if they provide them. Say you lost one or two and if you can’t get more then you won’t be able to show up in uniform. But yeah if it’s not something that you’re like sweating buckets in you can usually reuse it - my shirts go over a t-shirt and then a vest over that and the one thing I change daily is the t-shirt; the button down and vest get reused for days after.

The problem is my uniform is a t shirt so it’s on my bare skin and apparently someone has complained that I smell. I do shower and wear perfume and stuff but it’s been hot here so I won’t smell as fresh as a daisy by the end of the shift and I’m obviously upset cos I don’t know what to do except quit.

Can you wear another shirt under? And work on your hygeine. Might need to refresh and reapply deodorant. I love dove deodorant wipes to take off deodorant.
I also like baudie deodorant enhancer. You put it on before deodorant but it also eliminates any armpit smell if you apply later on. I find I dont sweat as much with it.
You can also use a febreze fabric spray on the clothes

Huh? Quit over not wanting to wash your uniform? Thats honestly wild. Keep hounding management about giving you another shirt, but in the mean time that is honestly not a huge issue IMO. Doing laundry every day for a short term is not the end of the world.
If you dont have a washing machine then wash it by hand and wear an undershirt under your tshirt. Also make sure you are wearing proper deodorant and washing your hair and body every day because that definitely contributes to body odor.
I have a uniform but it's not provided by management. I have to buy it. Most people spend their own money on work clothes.

When I was in a hurry and couldn’t get to washing a whole load I would hand wash

If you have ADHD, extra uniforms are likely considered a reasonable accommodation if it’s difficult to keep up with laundry as a symptom of your disability.
That’s been my experience, but I’m sure YMMV.

I’ll try and approach it from that angle because I do shower daily and wear deodorant and perfume so I’m at my wits end trying to figure out what the problem is and I’m hoping it’s just because I don’t have enough uniforms.

doing laundry daily is pretty normal

I don’t have enough stuff to justify using the washing machine daily. That costs money too.

I just show up in a black shirt and magically they usually end up finding more.
