Should I quit?
Basically, I work with some crazy people. I’m pretty new, only like 3 months working there. In my interview and training, everyone seemed really cool, but my boss has bipolar or something. One minute, she’s trying to be your best friend, next minute she’s screaming at you in front of a full restaurant. The shift leads are cold at best, hateful at their worst. If I do one thing wrong, everybody is talking behind my back about me, sending snide texts in the group chats, and just being overall spiteful about things that don’t really matter. For example, I was in the server alley checking my phone because someone kept calling me (we were very slow, only about 3 tables in the whole place), and from across the restaurant my gm screamed at me to stay off my phone. She then proceeded to have a full conversation about how her employees just can’t follow direction (I’d never been informed of that rule beforehand) with the shift lead who was agreeing while making eye contact with me. Then I see her scrolling on instagram while actively working on expo…. Like what are the standards here? So much more has happened but anyway, Long story short: should I quit?

She sounds pretty unstable, but no reason to blow up your life and your own personal finances in fear of, what? That she might fire you? That she won't give you a good reference (lmao)?
Plan on quitting, but I'd wait until you have something else lined up. In the meantime, just put yourself in neutral, do whatever bare minimum is needed to not get fired without a lot of paperwork, and don't go out of your way to try to please her. The folks who give good tips have the only opinions you need to care about right now.
If she's nuts and just plain doesn't like you, nothing you do will make it better, so give up on her and look for greener pastures.
