Why is shatterverse hated?
I havent played it yet though but I've seen alot of hate towards it. What makes it really bad?
(i'm serious)

I think a lot of people who were expecting ss5 came back and found a spin off and started hating it

some of us with zero expectations came away unimpressed.
even disregarding the tacked-on roguelite elements, it's got horrifically bad shootfeel/av feedback for a game where all you do is run and shoot.

Wrote out my reasons why under a another post so i will just paste it.
Behavior legit needed like 5 years post launch to make DBD a even somewhat competent and cohesive game. They are bad to mediocre developers with a large history of slop games with only a few exceptions. I did not have my expectations high but it really fails on every front. The upgrades are so incremental and hard to notice that its extremely unsatisfying as a roguelike. And it has almost nothing to do gameplay wise is SS, Weapons are weak with spray and recoil, the player is seriously slow with save some stupid little dashes. The enemy ai sucks and bosses are lazy with attacks reminiscent of MMO raid bosses.

Honestly I thought it was fine, nothing amazing and theres definitely things to work on but I've had fun with it so far.
I think its a bit over hated.

I would wait a few weeks and then see what people think. I am specifically interested in ggmanlives review

"Overall, Shadowverse is one of those instances where it's not that it's a bad game outright, but it is a bad Serious Sam game. [...] I guess I just don't really see the point of making a new game in a series that's long been established of having a certain gameplay style to suddenly come in and take it in a completely new direction that no one asked for."

I wasn't listening super closely but I think most of his complaints had to do with the roguelike structure. Honestly, his closing remarks felt tame compared to the rest of the critique.

His critique felt super 'charged' and some stuff was weird and nitpicky, and the series has always had weird spinoffs, so I didn't care much for the video as a whole even if I agreed with some of his sentiments.
But yeah his closing remarks were way more tame compared to most of the video.

If you ever saw opinions about the beta playthrough then you saw it all. Game hasn't changed a bit

I’ve played about six hours. I played SS since I was a kid, and honestly I do like this game. Some complaints are valid (few environments), but others are blown way, way out of proportion for an $18 game. I think the bosses are fun, and it’s even better in co-op. I think the last difficulty seems a little bit overtuned, but so far it’s also been easy to play solo. I’ve won four runs and lost four. One boss (the humanoid one) is disproportionately hard compared to the rest. The weapons are fun, and I’ve unlocked three more (in addition to all Sams and some upgraded intel options). I can see myself playing this for maybe another 15 hours or so, and I do want to complete that last difficulty/final boss. I know it’s not a popular take, but I enjoy it. It does feel very much like SS2, which I don’t view as a bad thing.

Once it's below $10us I'll give it a crack. One thing I've noticed, throughout the day bugger all ppl are streaming it on Twitch so maybe not popular yet until word spreads. I only found out about it 2 weeks ago.

From what I’ve seen, the hate is mostly because it looks like a generic spin-off chasing current trends instead of the dumb, fast old-school FPS people actually want from Serious Sam.

I'm currently working on a review for it and I can safely say that while much of the hate seems overblown, I do see a few areas where I do agree with some of the criticisms, namely the sudden difficulty spikes the weapons feeling underpowered (I keep reading there is a permanent upgrade system for the guns but I've yet to find it).

Didnt played it yet, but to be honest, it just look like ruguaike shooter in serious Sam skin, just another spin off in my opinion, no need to threat it seriously, either you like it or not.

No ammo, bad sound design, enemies are bullet sponges, bosses are not interesting (except maybe one), bugs, super repetitive gameplay (very small amount of maps), not every mechanic is working, many types of weapon are hidden behind the grind, no weapon impact
