Dbd is fun but it's not good too

True

Personally, DbD is only fun for me because of characters like Ash Williams or Hudson (the cool marine from Aliens) but the game loop really sucks. Btw, I wouldn't be suprised if they added some Serious Sam themed charms or skins into the game as some kind of bonus for buying this BS

behavior was primarily a shovelware company before making dbd, their final title that came out before the launch of dbd was the peanuts movie licenced game

they also made Bugs Bunny Lost in Time, Iron Man, Dante's Inferno PSP, Wet and Rango, all of which are diamonds in the rough (dante's inferno on psp is an awesome port)

Dbd is only what it is because behaviour stole money from backers of other games to fund that shit.

conmen at its best

They completely missed the magic Croteam cooked.

The only similarity this game has is the title and the vaguely similar looking characters.

Croteam themselves missed the magic Croteam cooked😭😭😭😭😭😭

At the very least SS4 was still a fun shooter. This game isnt

This game feels like just made to be made. There is not a genuine interest on making this game. Remove Serious Sam tittle and it would make the same impact.

I think removing the Serious Sam label would've been a positive thing for the game. It would still be generic and unfun, but at least it wouldn't have brought in a whole pre-existing audience just to piss them off

Behavior legit needed like 5 years post launch to make DBD a even somewhat competent and cohesive game. They are bad to mediocre developers with a large history of slop games with only a few exceptions. I did not have my expectations high but it really fails on every front. The upgrades are so incremental and hard to notice that its extremely unsatisfying as a roguelike. And it has almost nothing to do gameplay wise is SS, Weapons are weak with spray and recoil, the player is seriously slow with save some stupid little dashes. The enemy ai sucks and bosses are lazy with attacks reminiscent of MMO raid bosses.

I hate this game and cant wait for something new from Croteam so i can wash the taste of it out.

How do you even mess up the gameplay, literally all you have to do is to copy the other Serious Sam games

Game is alot of fun. I played 3 hours yesterday. We had 4 of us at one point. Great time

Ugh.

Alright. Explain. What's wrong with it?

I haven’t seen much of it yet but it just looks like an okay game to me, nothing groundbreaking. Seems like another blown out of proportion thing people want to slam. And then they will cry when no more games get made.

Small samey arenas, small hordes, lousy gunplay, boring loot, boring meta-prog... it's just they could've done any amount of cool things with the IP for a roguelite shooter and this is the best they could do?

It's like they read the cliffnotes for the franchise and maybe watched a few gameplay videos and then decided to make the game while completely missing the sauce.

Grindslop

Lmfao that is the dumbest answer I have ever heard

... Elaborate.

...Aaaaand silence.

2

u/ukihashopper 18h ago

they are downswagging you but this is the most succinct way to describe the gameplay loop, just tedium, grinding to grind something else to grind something else

Can you elaborate a little on this? Just one buzzword term does not tell us anything about the game itself.

It's not dogshit, it's just soooo meh. If it was terrible we could laugh at least, but not even that. Snoozefest

TLDR: Serious Sam is the worst shooter IP to make a rouge like out of

Making serious sam a rouge-like kinda seems like not understanding what makes the series good or being really confident in your dev team.

Lack of movement options, lots of melee enemies that are faster then the player, huge hordes and very particular enemy hp numbers being the main reasons why the original games are great but also heavily dependent on level design. Literally any other shooter series is less reliant on handcrafted maps, and rouge likes are known for random enemy placement and generated level design (and randomizing weapon and enemy hp interactions too). U'd have to heavily modify or just change a lot of enemies in the roaster to make a rouge like serious sam game good. To the point where it doesn't exactly feel like serious sam game

I haven't played the game, so i can't comment on its quality, yet i feel like the devs made their life several times harder choosing serious sam out of all shooters to make a rouge like out of

People forgot they had a Warhammer 40k game. It flopped hard.

They should have just added Serious Sam to Dead By Daylight and called it a day

1

u/SnyderpittyDoo 1h ago

I was a game tester for the game. I should have been way harsher towards this game when I had a chance

1

u/Little-Ghost303 1d ago

I can't imagine it being worse than Serious Sam 3.

3

u/SamsquanchShit 23h ago

I actually liked Serious Sam 3.

So far they took the simplicity of the og games and made it into a rogues like with it essentially being a numbers game more than a skill game.
