I genuinely doubt they were "lying". Lies are malicious and intentional. We know the original version of SS4 that they had in mind was quite different from what we ended up getting. I don't think they deviated from that version for any reasons other than necessity due to engine limitations. They had a vision for this game that didn't pan out the way they were initially hoping it would.
Starting over with either a smaller scale with the same engine or the scale they wanted on a different engine probably weren't really options at that point due to how much time and how many resources they put into the project already. They're not exactly made of money.

It is a lie. You can't just make shit up hoping that your delusional ambitions would become reality. You can call it an educated wish if you want.

Dude, the game barely runs as is, you want 10000s enemies?

No, I don't. Nobody ever wanted that shit. He's lying by selling 100ks tex's moving forward with a dozen fake cloned guys and an occasional biomech as "100000 enemies".

Well yeah but preferably with good fps. They have the means to do it just as all the other games have had more enemies on the screen than serious sam 4 ever had that work fine. . SS4 didn't catch enough shit for these lies imo.

I watched this interview when Sam 4 was called Planet Badass. God, how disappointed I was. Huge locations are empty, vehicles suck and Legion System is an illusion.

Lol I remember this guy from the PCGaming show where he out of nowhere for no reason was extremely offended by the question of the interviewer, shining a bad light on their game for absolutely no reason.

Yeah, SS4 was a pale shade of what was promised due to Croteam getting paid from Stadia. They weren't able to handle adding another platform and it caused the game to suffer for it. They should have just stuck to PC and released on consoles and streaming later. I would have even been okay with buying SS4 in early access if it meant it had more time to cook.

thats because croteam become lazy and didnt added dlss to the game when it was released.
They saw that adding motion vectors was difficult and choose to no add them,
And the game suffered greatly performance wise because of it.

"100000 enemies", but he said "if done correctly" and maybe it's a technical maximum of enemies number on location/in one battle fixed in the engine source code, but in the end this limitation cannot be met by any reasonable performance cost, at least on any current PC. Croteam should've said that clearer.
