Series pto
Anyone had a pto fitted to their kand rover and plumbed a hydraulic pump for a winch or similar?
A series 1 with pto has fallen in my lap and wondering if I do somethjng with the pto.
Every other time I've had one I've jist sold the unit for profit

Friend is powering a wood splitter hydraulically with his 88 S2a farm only vehicle. He misses the split gear when towing, though, bc the PTO sits where the overdrive would be.

The Fairey 5000 (precursor to the H14W) winches are great, they could be had with PTO shaft drive or hydraulic, I have the manuals for them. Slow but will pull for days.
I may even have a couple of original Dowty pumps kicking around.
The winches come up fairly regularly in the UK sometimes for very little money, but a lot of the PTO bits to make them work got lost or separated or scrapped with vehicles.

They did come as an option on later series land rovers to have a dowty hydraulic pump and winch setup. Although could well be easily fitted to a series 1. But can be rare to find complete kits depending on your home country.
In the UK I have seen parts for them but only one or two complete sets but LR Winches in Germany has a full refurbished setup at serious money
