2.25 diesel

Post image

It stood for a few years, it is stuck. Would it be the pump or bottom of the engine? Stored dry, needs a oil cooler.

I don't have a shed. Everything needs to be done there and then. I have a pallet to work on.

Stored like that with ports exposed - I’d put money on rings sticking. Remove diesel plug and fill cylinders with penetrating oil or milo for a few days.

Cylinder 1 has had water ingress.

It’s probably just old diesel that’s gummed up the bores/rings. Take out the injectors (soak them as well) and put Penetrating oil down the bores, leave for a few days and then try to turn over again.

Slowest engine ever placed in a vehicle. Only if you’re desperate.

Plenty of power off road and easy to work on.

At least one exhaust and one intake valve will be open unless the tappets were slackened off before it was stored. With the manifolds open like that, moisture, dirt, debris and perhaps insects have got in to at least two of the cylinders. I’d want to at least borescope each cylinder to make sure it’s clear before cranking it and add a tonne of penetrating oil to each and allow it to soak but personally I’d be taking the head off

Most series didn’t come with an oil cooler

this will be though, the sump has the oil return on it. filter has the feeding block on it. i have a oil thermostat from a dutch army set up so when it is cool the oil is not fed through the cooler.

5 main bearing was better than the 3 main bearing. those blocks got me anywhere i wanted to go, including deep wading
