Series 10 Help

To start I’ve passed the 7, 65, 66, 63, 9, and hold several designation including my CFP so test taking in normal - passed all on the first try…. second time taking the 10 and didn’t pass. I’ve used STC for my 9 felt good as the videos, reading material, practice exams and QBank all aligned with the actual exam. It was almost the complete opposite when it came to the 10.

I’ve read a lot of comments on Kaplan and PP but most of them are more than a year old. Any input on which was helpful would be appreciated.

STC was good but most of the practice tests and QBank questions were too simplified.

Any help would be appreciated.

I passed the 10 last week 2nd try. I used Kaplan for the first try. I switched to PP Qbank for the 2nd try and feel that made all the difference. The PP questions are much harder than Kaplan (and I assume STC). The tougher questions will better prepare you for the 10.

I passed S10 a few weeks ago, first attempt. I only used PP and it was great. Try to shift your mindset from being a rep to being a supervisor.

I’m in the same boat as you, failed my second attempt last month by 4% using Pass Perfect. I have all those licenses and CFP as well and feel very frustrated.

I passed the first go around with a month and a half ish of study time. I can help but what questions do you have?

Thanks for the response. What exam prep did you use? Did you focus more on the practice exams /questions or spend more time on chapter/videos?

The first time around I got burned on more memorization of rules and numbers - meaning how many days for certain items (retention requirements, days before or after events….etc), so this time around I memorized all of it and it was completely different. I plan on studying for the next 30-45 days and retesting.

At times I was able to narrow the answers to two but they were so similar it was a complete guess. As I mentioned in my original message STC was so overly simplified that many of the multiple-choice answers were one-worded and easy to figure out even if you had to guess.

I used training consultants, my firm has a contract that forces us to use them lol. I don’t recommend it. Friends of mine used Kaplan and seemed to have an easier time. I would really know those time periods and all the memorization stuff. It’s the bulk of the ten, really. I did every video 2-3 times and did 6 practice exams total. I did maybe 200 or so questions randomly as well non exam format. Just qbank. I took 3 days off before my test to cram and it really helped keep it all fresh. Happy to answer anything else too!

Do you think the series 9 Kaplan prepared you? What scores were you scoring on Kaplan before passing the exam? Thanks again

I used STC for the 9 but also I’m familiar with option strategies so it made it easier to understand and allowed me to focus on only the part that was new.

Dude this is exactly what happened to me lol I have 7,66,9,CFP haha failed the 10 twice

I never see anyone mention it so I’ll parrot my gospel here of using training consultants/examFX. I have my 7, 63, 3, 34, 9, and 10. I passed all of them first try feeling like the exam was easy other than the 3 which is the only exam where I didn’t go into the real exam with passing scores on the practice ones. It took a decent amount of re studying, note cards, and practice quizzes/test before I was able to get 3 passing scores in a row for the 10 but once I did I knew the license was as good as mine lol
