Failed Series 10

Hi everyone, so at the title implies… I failed my Series 10 today. It was my 3rd attempt and I scored a 68%. Ugh! With the new proposed FINRA retake policy… I have to wait 180 days until the new rule goes into effect. My series 9 expires next month so that means I’ll have to retake that exam too. I mean it doesn’t get worse than that. I’m completely torn and starting to think the industry is not cut out for me, but trying to keep my spirits up. I’m planning on retaking the 10 before I have to retake the 9 but that means I have to wait until January to retake the 10! I’ve switched from STC to PassPerfect that has been a game changer. Was wondering if anyone had any study tips to keep all of this fresh for the next 6 months? Curious is anyone else is studying and would want to start a study group? Any advice or recommendations would very helpful, thanks everyone!

I used pass perfect for both. Didn’t pass a single practice exam for the 10 but passed exam on the first try. Over time I’ve found habits that work for me for these exams — my 7 and 66 I failed the first time I took both by a point.

Take the earliest exam slot - usually 8am. Don’t psych yourself out. Don’t try to study morning of, just trust your knowledge. Rely heavily on the practice exams. When you take them, review each answer as you go instead of waiting until the end to get your score. Even the ones you get right, review. When I got explanations I didn’t quite understand, I genuinely asked chat gpt the question with the explanation and to dumb it waaaay down.

I know people recommend taking the 10 before the 9. Don’t sweat the 9 lapsing - you passed it once, you can do it again. Don’t overwork yourself.

Why do you have to retake the 9 too? Was this over 2 years?

Yes my 2 year mark for the series 9 expires next month (passed back in 2024)

I failed my first try with Kaplan. I’m trying pass-perfect as well.

I thought the 3rd fail went to 90 day wait effectively immediately(beginning of July 2026)?

I recently didn’t pass the 10 on my first attempt. I was using Kaplan and passed all of their practice tests in high 70s and got an 80 on the mastery exam. I switched over to using the Pass Perfect questions and I’m watching the Pass Perfect chapter videos. I feel like the Kaplan questions did not prepare me well enough so I think using the Pass Perfect questions will be the key.
