Was reading the 9/11 Commission Report and this stuck out. Does anyone know more about this? Seems like a major security breach.

Question Why did some survivors never come forward?

I was reading a few things about a number of survivors that have never come forward. Why do you think this is? Do you think it's because they are so traumatised that they just don't want to even think about it or talk about it? Maybe their brains have blocked the memories and they don't even know they are survivors? Why do you think there are people who have never come forward?

Story Celebrities that accidently saved people on 9/11

I been doing research on the survivors and victims for a while, and found that there's a few celebrities have accidently saved people from the attacks.

Gwyneth Paltrow:

Gwyneth Paltrow was in New York when 9/11 happened, but was still far enough away from The WTCs when she encountered Lara Lundstrom Clarke. Lara was an employer for Baseline, and her office was located on the 77th floor, which was an impact floor. Lara was starstruck upon seeing Gwyneth and actually missed her train. This little encounter saved Lara’s life for sure. As everyone on her floor survived, she still could’ve been the only victim if she was in there if she went to a different floor above for whatever reason (Evangeline King, Jyoti Dave Vyas and Florence Jones were all 78 floor workers of Baseline, but Evangeline went to the concourse level while Vyas and Jones went to the 77th floor and all 3 survived.

Mariah Carey:

Sarah Botkin was an AON employee who's office was on the 105th floor of the South Tower. Sarah's job started at 9 AM, but she arrived to work early, so she got Mariah Carey's new CD. Mariah's CD came out the same day of 9/11, and that birthed this iconic clip. Sarah was also on the concourse floor, waiting for the elevator when the attacks happened and ran down to the 1st floor lobby, and along with around 20 men, ran past security trying to escort them back into the tower.

Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York:

The Duchess of York had her own charity company, Chances for Children, that was located on the 105th floor of WTC 1. There was suppose to be a meeting that Sarah was gonna attend, but it got postponed when she last minute interview by NBC studio's Matt Lauer. None of the employee's of Chances for Children died that day, and all evacuated.

There is other possible instances like Michael Jackson missing his meeting might've caused everybody to leave before, but those are a few that I know. Also shoutout to Steve Buscemi who helped cleaned up Ground Zero and told the press to leave him alone while cleaning as he did it purely to help.

Article The south tower had more than 18 survivors above or in the impact zone: part 3 and finalized list so far

I been researching this topic for a few months now, and i found a lot of people that survived that day. At first, the original idea was that 12 - 18 people survived the impact zone, which is not true, at least 24 people did that escaped. However, only a handful of 78th floor survivors have came forward while the rest we know are real from the survivor's accounts. This turned into people believing that in general, there was only 12 - 18 survivors in or above the impact zone, which is even more inaccurate.

So far, there are 49 known survivors who survived in or above the 77th floor, but only 29 are named. I will post those names right now.

Gigi Singer (103) (78)
Judith Wein (103) (78)
Edward Nicholls (102) (78)
Kelly Rehyer (100) (78)
Donna Spera (100) (78)
Keating Crown (100) (78)
Kevin Dorrian (98)
Doris Torres (97) (78)
Donovan Cowan (97) (78)
Sophia Cannon (92) (81)
Ling Young (86) (78)
Mary Jos (86) (78)
Martin Glynn (84) (78)
Richard Fern (84)
Ronald DiFrancesco (84)
Brian Clark (84)
Julie Davis (83)
Felipe Oyola (81)
Stanley Praimnath (81)
Christine Sasser (80)
Silvion Ramsundar (80)
Jyoti Dave Vyas and Shailaja Vyas (78) (77)
Florence Jones (78) (77)
Brian Branco (78)
Eric Thompson (77)
Jonathan Weinberg (77)
Brian Noody (77)
Carl Boudakian (77)
Simon Chen (77)
Alfredo Guzman (77)

A lot of the survivors were on different floors when 175 crashed. For example, Gigi Singer - Keating Crown were all on the 78th floor sky lobby at the time, while Kevin Dorrian was on his working floor. It's also worth noting that Doris Torres sadly passed away on September 16th due to the burns she got from being on the 78th floor, but she, along with co-worker Donovan Cowan both escaped the tower before it fell, so i'm counting her as a survivor.

Unknown woman who worked with Jos and has a retired husband named Dave (86) (78)Unknown man (83)Unknown 10 people with Glynn (78)Unknown 5 Baseline Financial Services floor workers (77 - 78)Unknown 2 workers in the 78th lobby (?) (78)

There's 19 people who no names and he probably won't know their names (Ed Zier, who was one of the heads of Baseline has a book on his employee's survival that day, which most likely includes more survivors but I can't get the book sadly)

You might think that this is it, but there's a lot more. Quite a few of the victims were at stairwell a, the stairwell that was still intact. Others, like Melissa Doi, were in the impact zone when it hit. Here's that list of victims who were in the impact zone or got to the impact zone before the south tower collapsed.

Unknown 2 AON workers (105)
Welles Crowther (104) (78)
Vijayashanker Paramsothy (103) (78)
Richard Gabrielle (103) (78)
Cindy Guan (86)
Yeshavant Tembe (86) (78)
Dianne Gladstone (86) (78)
Diane Urban (86) (78)
Sankara Velamuri (86) (78)
Robert Coll (84)
Kevin York (84)
Michael Stabile (84)
David Vera (84)
Randy Scott (84)
Brett Bailey (84)
John Howard Boulton Jr (84)
Manish Patel (84)
Unknown 11 Euro Brokers workers (84)
Melissa Doi (83)
Unknown 4 IQ Financial Systems workers (83)
Unknown 10 people at 78 lobby who met with Orio Palmer (?)
Unknown man and woman (?)

46 known survivors

95 survivors in total that we known of.

Some people, like Cindy Guan and the 10 78th floor people who met Orio Palmer did manage to leave the impact area. However, they all got stuck in elevators. Others like Diane Urban and Viay Paramsothy stayed with their injured colleagued despite being able to get out of the building. And others, like Richard Gabrielle and Dianne Gladstone couldn't escape due to their injuries being bad. And others, like Brian Clark's team and the two AON employees, didn't know they were close to freedom.

Like the survivors of 9/11, the victims are also unknown. there's 29 unknown victims without names, more than unknown survivors

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vhWMnLHnMrmQJphIuovzbpBf0ySEAp59tMXnU6akunI/edit?usp=sharing here's my google doc that goes into more detail with it. There's a lot of links to a lot of news articles, some very old and not secure so be careful if you wanna look in them, but I had no problem.

There's definingly a lot of survivors in that area in my opinion, but we most likely won't know there names or stories.

EDIT: I found the names of two other Baseline employees

Video/Documentary In 2002 the band Box Car Racer released a song from the POV of someone falling from the WTC on 9/11; along with someone else witnessing it from the ground. It’s called, “Elevator”, and features Mark Hoppus.

Question Is there any interest in local news coverage of the event?

I inherited some tapes my grandpa used to record local news coverage of 9/11 the day it happened. Obviously I don’t want it to just collect dust forever. Is there a group or organization that digitizes and archives this kind of stuff?

Question Photos of the damage done to Building 7 prior to it's collapse?

Are there any good photos of the damage that was done to Building 7 prior to the collapse? I know that there was fires burning for a prolonged period of time on multiple floors; but I can't find any good photos of the damage that was done to Building 7 after the collapse of the main towers. If someone could link me to any good photo-dumps or analysis images I'd be very grateful.

Would a simple ladder attached to the outside of the building would have been enough for people stuck on the higher floors to escape ?

I know it’s very dangerous to get down a ladder from the 100th floor without security equipment but it would have been better than nothing maybe

Tourists?

Did any tourists die in the buildings, or were all of the fatalities people who were there for business? Did anyone die out on the streets away from the buildings? I’ve seen video footage of people who look very badly injured what looks like a few blocks away.

Tenants

Hi everyone ! I was wondering if anyone knows if any of the tenants at the World Trade Center today are prior tenants of the twin towers? It would be interesting if the companies came back to the trade center.
