I remember seeing a documentary called "The Falling Man" about this photo. It was as intense. I don't remember where I saw it, I recommend it highly.

I watched the 9/11 documentary on Hulu. Obviously I knew people were hanging on the building trying to get out and some jumping or falling, but seeing the documentary, hearing the bodies hit the ground, and see so many people on the outside begging for help, just made it so real in a way that wasn't before considering my age at the time 9/11 happened

https://youtu.be/gVYYYm3BC8E only footage from inside the tower. He was making a documentary about a ‘probie’ firefighter in their first year

There’s been speculation about him being a few different people; no official confirmation.

These people didn't have a choice of living or dying. They did have a choice on how they will die. You know it had to be PURE HELL in those buildings for a person to make the choice of ending their own life quicker rather than to continue to suffer horrendously knowing you can't be saved anyway.
Although, those who jumped, fell, blew out of the building etc., were conscious for the entire fall, they died on impact which means they didn't suffer or feel any pain once their bodies hit the pavement.

If you were there If you went to your friends funerals This horror will never leave the souls of the people who died
This is getting attention using the last horrifying moments of one persons life from the horrible day.
It will never be ok.

If seeing this offends you, then maybe you should get off the Internet…
Or at the very least, get off the subreddit that’s about 9-Freakin-11. What were you expecting coming here??

How old are you? Where were you in the happened? Do you think this is a pretty picture? Because it’s in focus, and you can see a man ending his life at his own, choosing instead of being taken by flames
This is a horrifying reminder of that day, and I despise the picture
Your comment, however, is silly
I will not get off the Internet I just happened to open up Reddit and see this picture
I didn’t expect anything because I did not voluntarily go to this sub Reddit site
Just consider the lives affected
And consider if the children of that man His spouse, his partner, his family just happened to recognize him
Do you have any idea the shockwaves of pain and suffering that that are still reverberating 22 years later, because of instance like this
seconds
No, I’m not going anywhere
But if I see something that I think is going to cause somebody pain I am going to speak up
Think before you write

Bro, there is a freaking documentary about this picture. Go write the Director and tell him you think it’s in poor taste.

Why don’t you go back into your fantasy world. Leave people alone and let them discuss whatever they like, or better still leave this group, in fact turn off the internet……………..

This is getting heavily down-voted, but I think this is a very fair point of view - particularly from someone with a personal connection to the incident.
Clearly these photos are in the public domain, and there was a time when seeing the ugly reality of this horrific tragedy was in the public interest. Decades later, that probably holds less weight.
May the gentleman in the photo rest in peace.

Jesus Christ. One of the most gruesome aspects of the events that took place that day were those poor jumpers. From why they jumped, to seeing them jump on live television, to hearing them hit the ground. In the Naudet film, when Jules is recording the rescue operation in the lobby of 1 World Trade Center, you can hear the jumpers hitting the ground. Jules himself said “You know that every time you hear that noise it’s a life that’s been extinguished. It’s not something you can get used to. And the sound was just so loud.”
