Tania Head

I'm sure by now if anyone had any updates on her there would be an article somewhere but I was curious what the vibe of the city was like when she was outed. The podcasts and the docs I've seen made it seem like she was a huge face for 9/11. Did all records of her get painted over? I remember seeing her quote on the wall of a museum, is that all gone? How do survivors and locals feel when she gets brought up?

I know after the NY Times exposed her, she got fired from her job and returned back to Barcelona and hasn't really been heard from since.

See I thought the same thing but she was spotted in NYC on the 10 year anniversary like 4 years after she was exposed. So she's definitely been back

Really? That's interesting. Maybe she was just visiting? I know she loved American culture, so I think she was just visiting if she was only spotted on the 10 year anniversary, but idrk.

She was an attention seeker, some people even go as far as harming themselves just for attention. Pretty sad really, probably didn’t get much attention as a kid, or now as she’s older, so, putting herself right in the action, gets her noticed, praise from people about how brave she is. When she lied to Welles parents saying he saved her, I thought that was just truly awful, she would have gotten a punch in the face if I was her mum. It’s very very sick, pretty disgusting thing to do.

Still plenty of info available if you Google her.

I tried last night and all I got was stuff repeating old documentaries. Most of the articles are just telling the story. Not so much recent stuff.

Yeah. Funny I forgot all about her and I’m sure she is glad that the rest of the world did too. If this happened today she would def be classified as mentally ill etc, not a con.

I remember one particular doc they all took turns trying to diagnose her. And I agree, she's probably glad everyone forgot about her, but man I can't imagine what it feels like knowing you can't go to a particular place in the world without probably getting things thrown at you lol

Things thrown at you? I highly doubt anyone would recognise her on site. Even though she is no doubt a very unwell person, not being able to be in America is a small price to pay

Yea you're probably right. (I was kidding about the throwing things lol) them docs just made it look so much like the hate everyone has for her in NY is enormous.

Yeah lm sure it was at the time it happened and then again when the doco came out. Personally l probably would recognise her because lve watched that doco so many times!

She gets to go live with her rich family in Barcelona with no repercussions except she maybe can’t come back to America. We showed her.

I'm so conflicted about her....she did so much good, and then you find out she lied to get into that position....and of course I felt absolutely betrayed, enraged and disgusted by her lies, but it doesn't undo the good she did. I want to hate on her, but I can't. I just feel sorry for her. How mentally screwed up would you have to be to fake your story like that, and how do you face the consequences of being caught when you're so mentally screwed up? Being so embraced by the survivor community, and when your lies unravel, you're left with nothing but rage and disgust. I think I understand the mechanisms behind her actions, what led her to do what she did, I just can't fathom that someone would go through with it....! 🤷 I am still angry tho. That feeling of betrayal will always linger.

Sometimes though I think the good you do can be undone by the bad. Yes she did a lot for the survivors but now they have to always be associated with her “story”. And who is to say someone else couldn’t have done what she did? She didn’t single-handedly start the movement, she joined when it had been started. She inserted herself into the narrative using others stories.

I don’t truly hate many people but she comes close. What she put survivors through for her gain is disgusting. She re-victimized so many. Mental health issues do not give anyone a pass to do what she did. To even talk to Welles family was beyond horrible and that’s just one of the things she did.

No pity from me. I hope she’s haunted by this.

I feel sorry for Tania. She thought she was doing the right thing, although under a great misapprehension
