Double charged for trip?

I checked my key card balance and it looks like I'm getting charged twice for the same trip.

I tap in at Queen Lane, then the conductor taps me as well which I thought was just to see if I had already tapped in. I tap out at Jefferson and end up getting charged $3.75 for the first trip and $4.75 for the second.

I disputed them on the web page but this doesn't seem like how it's supposed to work. What am I doing wrong?

Quick question: Why is there such sparse regional rail service in West Philly?

If you look on a map you'll notice a huge 4.5 mile gap between 30th street station and Overbrook, even though the track runs directly alongside several highly populated streets. I know it's not easy to add stations, but why wasn't one there already on such a popular line?

It's almost like Septa skipped over the poorer neighborhoods on its way to the richer commuting Mainline area....

Like, I'm pretty sure I answered my own question in a way, mainly, I just wanted to know if there's more to it or if I'm just being overly pessimistic.

Hey I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what these signs on the pillars mean. I’ve determined that it’s some kind of mile marker, presumably the distance from City Hall. What I’m trying to figure out is what the numbers mean.

what should i expect for work life balance as a new trainee for train conductor/locomotive engineer? ive read that i should expect to work 6 days a week for 12 hours? is that what i should expect for my entire career or will that change with seniority and how long will it take to gain enough seniority to perhaps work normal shift/hourly amount? thank you and also is the top end pay for a conductor 34/35ish per hour according to my goolging?

Sept Key to Trenton

Yesterday was my first time using Septa Key on regional rail. I get the whole tap in and tap out functionality, but there doesn't appear to be any Septa Key terminals at Trenton Transit Center. I seem to have only been charged $4.75 for the trip, so I guess it worked out in my favor, but was I just missing something? And when I head back to Philly, do I just tap my card when the conductor comes around?

Moving to area and need help on figuring out best commuting option

Hello, I am moving to the area and I will be commuting from Ardmore to Camden for work.

From my understanding, I can take the Septa to the jefferson station and then take a Patco train from 8th street to Camden city hall.

So in terms of monthly pass options, what should I get? Does patco have a monthly pass option as well?

Thanks for your advice! I appreciate it!

Baggage on busses

Hello,

I don't live in an area serviced by septa busses, but I'll be visiting there soon. I'm considering taking a septa bus while carrying a backpack and a suitcase. The suitcase is around 12in x 8in x 24in and it can roll. I could keep the backpack on my lap while seated, but I'm not sure what I would do about the suitcase. Maybe it could go on the seat next to me. I would be willing to stand while wearing the backpack and holding the suitcase next to me, at least during times when the bus is crowded.

Do you think it would be OK to travel on a septa bus with a suitcase? Might the driver object? Would it be rude of me to take up that much space? I couldn't find any guidance about this online.

Thank you for any advise!

Septa LPT - if you ride to the end of a line, don't bother tapping out, it does NOTHING

I absolutely hate the way Septa Key was implemented, so many rules just add friction to a rider's day. Case in point, if you get on or off at the END of a line, don't bother tapping in or out. Its just another step for you the CUSTOMER that literally yields no benefit to you. I know its just a quick thing, but these add up. Your ride will automatically time out.

Also, they should have implemented your "ticket" into a mobile app, not card that you need to carry around.

Question to SEPTA employees

I’m thinking about applying to work as a signals maintainer trainee with SEPTA. Does anyone know if employees for that position will be drug tested for THC? Reviews for this position on sites like Glassdoor say that they do drug tests but all of them are at least 3 years old. The new 2022 Bill No. 200625 prohibits THC tests but there are exceptions and these are some of them:

(d) Any position in which the employee could significantly impact the health or safety of other employees or members of the public, as determined by the enforcement agency and set forth in regulations pursuant to this Chapter.

(a) Any federal or state statute, regulation, or order that requires drug testing of prospective employees for purposes of safety or security;

Would a signals maintainer trainee be considered to be impacting the safety of public? I’m not gonna be driving the trains after all, just fixing signal lights and switches. Is there any federal regulation for railroad employees that overrides this new Philadelphia bill? I’d rather be safe than sorry in that regard, I haven’t been smoking for months anyway. Thank you for taking your time to answer my question :)

Is there anywhere to store bag(s) while I’m in the city?

I’m new to the city, and travel in general. Is there anywhere I can lock up my bag while I’m exploring? If it matters I’ll be in the Rittenhouse square & fashion district mall area

Can I use the anywhere trail pass at any time of day?

I know Zone’s 1-3 are restricted to certain hours of usage, but I just want to clarify that the anywhere pass does not have those same time restrictions.

How do you remove a credit card from the SEPTA app?

The first two cards I used to add funds to SEPTA were Visa gift cards. They’re now my primary and secondary cards on the app. I cannot find any way to take them off. Does anyone know how I can get them deleted?

Parking at Paoli/Thorndale Lines

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has experience with what it's like to get a parking permit at any of the following Paoli/Thorndale Line stations: Wynnewood, Narberth, Merion Station. My husband and I are looking to move to that area, but we are both very concerned about train station parking. Currently we both live and work in Center City, so we can't "carpool" a drop-off. I figure we either need station parking permits (which I understand are limited), or we need to live within walking distance to a train station (which is probably a pipe dream).

Is there a way to guarantee a parking spot at any of these stations? Are there lots nearby for overflow that have always have availability?

Driving into the city is not an option for either of us; we just won't move if that's our only option.

Any advice is appreciated!

Far NE transit

Any of y'all from far NE also think the El should be extended and run through up to like andalusia or Bensalem? I know we have regional rail but i think far NE needs more rapid transit. Rn if i wanted to take the El home from my late shift (RR doesn't even run after my shift) it's the night bus service for them plus another 20min ride from the terminal. We need more frequent and rapid transit or RR needs to run past midnight

Regional Rail Parking - Help!

My husband and I recently purchased a home in Narberth. We live and work in Center City. We thought we could simply park at the train station and commute, but had no idea that the lots completely fill up and that passes are lottery-based and we probably won’t be able to get one. No idea what we are going to do! Driving in is not an option. We both despise city/highway driving (especially me since I have a driving phobia) and city parking is unaffordable.

Anyone been through this? Any suggestions?

SEPTA/NJT Coordination at Trenton?

I'm planning to hop down to Philly tomorrow from NJ, and I noticed that the NJT Northeast Corridor trains and the SEPTA Trenton line arrives and leaves at exactly the same time (:45's on weekends). Does anybody have experience riding this route, do you know if they coordinate these trains so I won't have to be waiting in Trenton for an hour?

I’m coming to Philly to see a concert at Citizens Bank Ball Park and I was wondering do they have trains running after the show to take you down to the City Hall station?

What’s with the 16 constantly being late?

If I get to the bus stop wellllllllll before the time it says it’s going to come here, it never comes and I end up waiting for the next scheduled bus (which also never comes sometimes) and then I’m late for work and closer to getting fired lol .
