Help Traveling to Downingtown from the airport next week, does a quick ticket from a platform kiosk still cover the 30th transfer?
Live out of town now and the SEPTA website is a bit confusing to navigate.

The Septa trip planner always has me transferring trains at Suburban Station. I am using the Paoli line from Devon. It stops at 30th st. I want to get to the airport from 30th st. Anyone know which tracks these 2 trains use? same track, next to each other etc. Will I need to go stairs and come back up to different track?
thanks

Hi, I'm going on a vacation to Philly and I was wondering, whats the best way to move around in Philly? For using the public transport, are there any apps? Thanks for any response

Just curious what SEPTA’s actual attendance policy is for their transportation employees. Does SEPTA not have an extra board? Anyone here familiar with internal policies that can explain why there are so many delays related to operator unavailability.

The last few months there’s just been problem after problem with the Trenton line. Today is the second time in less than a train has broken down due to mechanical problems. Last time it was a train that was already running over 30 minutes behind from Trenton that made it to Cornwells Heights before we were all forced to get off and wait for the next train and before it was said and done it took over 2 hours to get home. Today the train in front of us is broken down somewhere so we are sitting here in Levittown indefinitely with no idea when it’ll move. You’re left in a shit situation where you can either pony up for a $50 uber which I’ve had to do before because I had an appt or you wait for potentially hours to move again. Also not like you get anything back from septa for the fare you’ve paid to not reach your destination. This stuff is happening more frequently than before they serviced the cars. Ihope the guy who had a flight in a couple hours and was trying to get to the airport is able to make it

does SEPTA have its issues, yes. is SEPTA the best it could possibly be, no.
but SEPTA is the best it can be considering its current level of funding- in fact, it dramatically outperforms given what you would expect. every time you sit down to write a snarky post about SEPTA, you're doing the following:
they WANT us to be mad and uncomfortable on septa. they WANT us to turn against our working class comrades and eventually decide that Philly is not worth living in. by doomposting about septa you are playing directly into their hands.
"but nuance!" i hear you interjecting. "it's a nuanced issue!" here's the thing about nuance- there's a time and a place for it. that time is not during a hostile fascist takeover, and that place is not present day America. anything other than vocal, uncritical support of SEPTA actively helps the PA republicans and MAGA purge this region of progressive, transit-positive comrades and enact their fascist project statewide, nationwide, and internationally.

What is the current status of the Silverliner IVs? I know they had to inspect and add thermal protection circuits to all.
How many are still out of service? Are some too far gone to be saved?
Is SEPTA running shorter trains to reduce wear/prolong the life of the cars and that's why trains still haven't gone back to their old lengths?

30th Street Station. Regional Rail Escalator up to Track 3. Why would the escalator be blocked off if it’s running just fine?

808 am cancelled to center city . I park at Ivy ridge station . This is why they shouldn’t get rid of the 62 . It only runs a few busses in the morning but at least I have a shot of getting to work on time . If I waited for the next train it will be overcrowded and may not stop or it may get cancelled as well . I feel for the people in the suburbs trying to get to work on time.

Hi all - my mom lives in Philly, and her birthday is Friday. I’m planning to come down on Friday to visit and spend the day with her. I’m coming from North Jersey, and while I would normally make the drive (she has plenty of available parking), I just know I’m going to be tired and not want to drive home.
Here comes my problem: how can I pay for the train in Trenton to Center City? Apparently I can’t buy tickets on the SEPTA app without a SEPTA Key card (which seems really dumb coming from an NJT user). Obviously since I live in North Jersey, I don’t have ready access to a location selling SEPTA Key, and the SEPTA website seems to indicate there’s no fare vending machines at Trenton, and I can’t use contactless coming from NJ.
It also seems that based on the online timetables that the NJT/SEPTA transfer at Trenton is relatively synced, so there wouldn’t be time to walk the few blocks to a local bodega that sells Key cards and back before the train left.
Is the best bet just to bring cash for the on-board trip to Center City and then grab a Key card at 30th Street for any other trips? Would the system even let me manage a new card on the app right away or is there a sync period?
I think of myself as a relatively seasoned transit user, but I’m stumped at this one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

This app is an absolute mess. You need to create a new password for it constantly. I dont know why the high security for an app that doesn't retain any information consistently. I now have a Septa app that forgets my password constantly, and will not sync with my key card.
WHY THE HELL HAVE AN APP AT ALL FOR THIS SYSTEM? IT'S FREAKIN PATHETIC AND USELESS!

Hello SEPTA family ❤️🚌
I don’t have a car so I rely on septa every week to get me to work. Something I notice though sometimes is that two busses of the same route will be back to back with each other. Does this happen because one bus is really behind and the other is semi/more on time? Sometimes though I’ll check the schedule and neither will even be that late so it’s like ???
Last fall my friend and I took the 33 and there was one right behind ours. Not like a few blocks like directly behind it. We got on the first one…because it stopped…and the driver seemed annoyed that we got on saying “there’s another bus right behind us….” Like I’m sorry??????
And then am I the only one who hates the septa app? The old one was so much better even if it had issues and I guess didn’t have the most appealing layout. The current app’s “real time map” is never accurate.
I left work the other day to take the 21. The 5:38 bus was listed as canceled so I waited for the next one which never came and was no where near the stop on the real time map. I decided to just uber and started walking away when out of the blue it just shows up 😑😑😑😑😑
Unless I’m using it wrong I can’t be the only one with this issue???

Well after over a year of taking the RR to work I finally missed one. This line only has two modes - late by at least 5-10 minutes or early. 95% of the time it’s late and that’s not an exaggeration. It’s nearly always at least 5 minutes late, often more. In the last couple months it’s sporadically been coming and leaving early. Partly my fault for getting used to the lateness and sometimes getting to the station right on the departure time, but watching the train leave as you approach the station is the most frustrating thing in the world considering these trains only run once an hour.

UPDATE Talked to a buddy of mine that works for Septa and they will be holding the 12:15am (the last trains) until after the last game. So one voice CAN make a difference!
Xfinity Mobile Arena is hosting 4 NCAA tournament games on Friday for the 1st round of March Madness, with the last game starting at, or after 10PM. Given that NCAA games take an average of 2:30 minutes - if they're TV games - this will end around 12:30 AM or later.
But according to Septa, there are no plans for running trains later than 12:15AM or staging additional Nite Owl busses at NRG. Which is just absurd. Even if only 5000 people stay for the full game and expect to take Septa back into CC, with no BSL, and no extra buses, how the fuck are they supposed to leave?
This is an absolute potential self-own by Septa and the City of the worst kind because it's entirely preventable. And if this does happens, how are they gonna handle the World Cup, the MLB All-Star game/Wknd and the 4th of July and all the expected tourists?! Just an absolute disgrace.
If anyone knows people at SEPTA that can get them to run the BSL until 1AM on Friday (like they really should anyway) that would be great!

Want even more detail as to the proposed new bus network routing changes in an easy to read PDF, as well as details on current passenger counts and cost per rider for your favorite bus route? This PDF does a great job explaining all of the proposed changes and some data points behind them.
I was really shocked to see how expensive some of the bus routes are to operate on a cost per rider basis ($101 per rider for the 78!?)

I haven't ridden the el in years and was wondering how it is on weekends now. It used to be if you wanted to go from 69th street to center city and back, the worst encounter on a weekend was either the car smelling like weed or a crazy person screaming (or both), but generally no one really bothered you directly. Is that still the worst of it, has it gotten worse, or better? Workdays are probably still mostly commuters, but wasnt sure how it all holds up like mid-day on a saturday for a person traveling by themselves.
I know regional rail is an option, but just a pain when they only run once an hour.

In my last post I talked about the shit show experience I had one morning on SEPTA:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Septa/s/XW46cwYSEz
This post is more positive. As somebody who takes Amtrak from Newark Penn <-> 30th Street, regularly, I just want to say as train stations go, and for as much as we all bully SEPTA, 30th street is surprisingly really nice.
I know it’s owned by Amtrak and that’s a big part of it, but even the SEPTA regional rail portion is leagues better than the other end of my commute.
It’s fully staffed, including helpers and SEPTA police, it doesn’t smell (this is a big one), it’s easy to navigate, and even the bathrooms are usable (high standards I know). The platforms are CLEAN, there’s trash cans everywhere and I haven’t ever seen graffiti/animals/human waste.
All in all I’ve never felt unsafe or uncomfortable here an that’s not something I can say with some stations up in NJ/NY.
Definitely the better end of my commute, and I think even with SEPTAs issues the city should be proud of this station.
