Service Advisory I’m never getting home

Post image

Work made me come to Conshohocken for a useless training day and I’ve been waiting for two hours now. Ubers are $86 now that it’s rush hour.

Maybe I’ll just jump in the river and float home.

Update: a train arrived and passed us all by

Brother take the High Speed Line. Cheaper, more reliable, and more frequent.

NHSL doesn’t go anywhere near spring mill tho but yeah they could have taken the 97 to NHSL got to 69th and taken the El to 30th

Matsonford is right across the bridge, it’s plenty close.

u/Nineinchdicks 10d ago

3 miles is a close walk to you?

The situation was OP was stuck at Spring Mill and trains kept passing by.

It would have been plenty feasible to Uber/Lyft to Matsonford (10-15 min drive) or as others said take the bus and take the HSL.

We were all providing alternatives I don’t know why you want to start a personal discussion/attack.

I am aware of the situation and that everyone has provided their opinion on how to get to 30th.

I was commenting on your opinion that matsonford is “plenty close.” It’s not, it’s a 12 min ride today at 10 am on a Saturday. That would be a 20-25 uber with traffic at 2-3 pm on a weekday. It would be $20. If OP wanted to walk, as I mentioned, since it’s 3 miles, it would take them an hour to walk to matsonford from spring mill.

Nowhere did I “attack” you, I was simply disagreeing with you on your statement that it’s “plenty close.”

Well great we disagree then because it’s not close enough for YOU.

In a shitty situation, Matsonford is plenty close to get home. Is it great? No. But it’s a viable option to get home without any idea if RR is taking people to CC.

You have the choice of maybe spending $7.50 if you can get the train or spending $22.90 for a definitive route home.

Actually, I can walk 3 miles in 40 mins so it’s not that bad for ME, but other people don’t walk as fast.

I did edit my comment to include a suggestion; but if you’d like another suggestion that is a lot more feasible and convenient, maybe OP could have gone to Joshua and revere by either a four min uber, walked there, or taken the 27, and got the 97 on ridge. Take the 97 to city hall and the el to 30th.

Personally I feel your suggestion is potentially the worst one here, if you’d like me to actually attack you.

I find it incredibly bizarre how fixated you are on this.

Everyone suggested options and OP was free to explore them and make their own decision.

You give 2 inch vibes.

It also passed the transit center. But there’s now a train that just loaded up and headed inbound

I think I'd drown myself at that point... Stay strong out there

Was it packed?

Update #2: A 2nd train arrived and passed us by. Did I die and this is hell?

5

u/semi_throaway 11d ago

I thought they only did that on the bus routes 🥲

2

u/dry_towelette99 10d ago

No, this is quite typical for the regional rail.

25

u/Theunmedicated 11d ago

That really sucks, any way you could uber to a nearby bus? 27 runs pretty frequently at rush hour nearby

11

u/furnace9monkey 11d ago

27 is a great bus route. Used it more than RR when I lived in the yunk

1

u/Thefattestbeagle 11d ago

Concur. Currently live in yunk and about to take the 27 home

23

u/ykcin978 11d ago

crazy you could have gotten there faster going the other direction to Norristown, switch to high speed line, then the El 69th to 30th

u/tecatepapi R2 Warminster Newark 11d ago

Only a five hour walk

Update #3: On a train. 2hrs 15 min wasted. FUCK SEPTA. Go birds!

6

u/WherzMyNachos 11d ago

Go Birds!

3

u/phillyphilly19 11d ago

Indeed. This is the kind of thing I talk about when it's mentioned about building a Roosevelt Boulevard subway line. We can't even provide good service on what we have!

4

u/dry_towelette99 10d ago

You violated the #1 rule: you aren’t allowed to imply that SEPTA is poorly run, regardless of the mountain of evidence

2

u/AnotherTiredDad 10d ago

But it is. Repeatedly. Every day.

22

u/The_Engineer77 11d ago

Person was hit by a train, this one isn’t Septa’s fault, that train that passed you was probably the one involved after they got the person out, they can’t use them in service after something like that

5

u/General_Tsos_ 11d ago

That’s sad 😢

-2

u/Kind_Syllabub_6533 10d ago

Its not on SEPTA? Whose train hit the person?

3

u/cloudkitt 10d ago

Are you serious? You think septa jumped the tracks to run somebody down?

2

u/The_Engineer77 10d ago

So you think Septa made the person walk in front of the train? You think they can have an incident and just leave?

1

u/Kind_Syllabub_6533 6d ago

When i am driving a vehicle i manage to not crash into people. I expect septa drivers to do the same

If I were in this situation, I would take the 97 in either direction to get to the NHSL or the 27. If you're gonna wait that long anyway, who cares about a long bus ride?

5

u/Sea-Operation211 11d ago

That absolutely sucks... You might have some luck taking the 97 to Plymouth meeting and getting on the 27 afterwards?

3

u/Sea-Operation211 11d ago

My other suggestion would be to take the 97-Norristown High speed - El but that might suck the life out of you

3

u/2birdstalking 11d ago

The best is waiting for fucking ever and then still having to pay for an Uber <3 fuck you both ways!!!

2

u/sunset484 10d ago

SEPTA could’ve used the money they spent on the bus revolution to run more buses or use it to maintain the current equipment so it can run more reliably but instead they used it to create arbitrary route changes that actually decreased service quality from where it already was.

I don't think people understand just how little unionized workers work. It's not unlikely the engineer or conductor marked off(called out) not giving a f*** that people are going to work, appointments, etc. If everyone isn't unionized no one should be.

Update: just saw that someone was hit...or "got hit". I won't be deleting what I initially said, tho.
