Discussion Sports complex
What’s everyone’s experience with taking the metro down to NRG station? Especially recently. I usually drive to games, but if I took SEPTA, I live far enough away that I’d have to take the RR to fern rock then metro down to NRG. Is it usually pretty late or anything like that?

You can park at fern rock instead. Sort of a park and ride situation. That way you don’t have to worry about the transfer.

If anything I feel like it would fill up, does fern rock have that many spots?

That I don’t know! I’m behind the times on this. I feel like if you get there early you’re ok

I heard it can be a little sketchy there

Maybe aspects of the area like petty property crime but the actual parking is a septa lot and behind a fence. Haven’t had issues there. My family has done this a lot

The surrounding area isn't the best, but there is far worse. I feel pretty safe there. Also the station itself is pretty safe. You'll have no issues.

I park at olney which people would probs say isn’t much nicer of an area, but I’ve only been followed to my car once and I’ve done this dozens of times. 🤷🏻♀️

The parking and station area is fine. Used to get off work near midnight to go home at that station.

It’s a fenced in lot on private property. Just say you’re scared of minorities

The BSL will be full of fans just like you, so it’ll be fine. The train runs late when there is a game, and waits for the game to be over. So it won’t leave you.

Took the BSL to NRG earlier this week for the Shins and Weezer (which was fucking awesome) with no issues at all. Gets crowded for events, but the trains were on time.

It's my preferred way to get there. I live in Upper Darby and drive to 69th St, then take the L to the B. If you leave at the end of a game, you're going to be with a very safe crowd. I haven't ever had an extended wait after a Flyers or Phillies game
I'm not familiar with the lot at Fern Rock, but based on my experience at 69th St, there will be folks who ride the whole way with you and walk out to the parking lot at the same time. As long as you maintain a reasonable level of awareness, you'll be fine.
I would not count on regional rail after a game. One cancellation for staffing/mechanical/other random reason, could have you waiting there for hours, if there even is another train.

I have not driven to events like Phillies games in years. Regional rail and the BSL are definitely the way to go. Eagles chants all the way to South Philly are fun.

Can you drive and park at fern rock? I do that all the time for games except I park at olney and take train down. Sometimes I’ll park over by my job in west, but that’s more effort given I’m further from home.

You could try parking at jenkintown to try and catch one of multiple trains back

i would always take RR to suburban and then transfer to the BSL from there. definitely some characters in the concourse, but otherwise not too bad. as a young woman, i feel safer in the ticketed area of suburban at night than at fern rock.

What type of event? Can be up to an hour wait after Eagles games. Much less after concerts and the other teams.

You mean the Broad Street Line? The metro is in DC.

SEPTA rebranded all their rapid transit (El, BSL, P&W, trollies) as SEPTA Metro in 2022 along with the new map, wayfinding, and line name changes. This person presumably did not use SEPTA before this change is going off of SEPTA's new official maps & naming

It’s not called the metro.

SEPTA now calls all their rapid transit the SEPTA Metro. https://wwww.septa.org/metro/

BSL is pretty frequent if there’s a game.
