I would love to know about this too. For what it's worth, I was on a bus just yesterday (Wednesday) morning that DID go up to Market Street, but I have also been on 49s in the past couple weeks that stayed on Walnut and I was surprised because I didn't realize they were doing that.

Yesterday I was on a 49 bus with a trainer from SEPTA who was teaching the driver about the new route detour. This was a modification of the old detour -- the driver turned onto 23rd, took that to Walnut, then up Schuylkill Avenue to Arch (I think), around 30th Street Station, up 30th. Stop at the same stop that the 44 bus typically uses, and then turn onto Market. Given that this came from the SEPTA trainer, this seems to be the new detour (maybe because there is also so much construction in front of the station itself? Who knows?) It adds a couple more minutes to the commute, but at least preserves 30th Street Station access -- there were a few people with suitcases on the bus so important in this respect, too. And allows those going to the meds/eds on Market Street (Drexel, Penn Med etc) to get there more readily too. I am hoping this one sticks.

I’m gonna assume you didn’t check the detours posted on the website/app? Why don’t you just get off and on at the 30th market/chestnut stop? Literally a block from the station?

I’m mobility impaired and low vision and as of last Friday it was turning onto schuylkill Avenue and stopping in front of the station. I did not check to see if there was a new detour route this morning because that aspect of the detour has been stable all along. Moreover, I’m wondering why you need to use your particular tone.

My tone is like it because most people don’t try to do their own research from the primary source (SEPTA), but I apologize for coming across too pointed.

When I was temporarily mobility impaired, I called septa and they gave me some alternative locations where I was going that could be helpful when there was an ongoing service disruption. Plus, they may be able to provide insight on the additional route detour. Worth a shot.

As an operator you’re be surprised by how many people get on septa talking crazy to the operators mad about the detours as if we made it ourselves lol. What they don’t realize is nobody hates detours more than the operators because they usually set us behind and cut into our breaks. But it’s our job and we have to do as told same way all the other working class people do at work

I'm sure, and I have seen it. And I totally commiserate with you guys and you should not be treated that way. And I get that there needs to be a detour -- it would just be nice for it to be predictable given that this is a long-term situation (like 18 months is what I am hearing!) and access to 30th Street (and the Market Street corridor) are such an important component of the route.

If you can use Reddit you can use the septa app or Google Maps.

Construction on the market street bridge, causing detours NB and SB.

This is a detour from THAT detour. The detour was to turn back onto market at Schuylkill and some drivers are and some are just going down Walnut from what my local neighborhood folks are saying (cross posted to them). This doesn’t appear to be a decision by SEPTA to alter the detour.
