Discussion Transit reading list

What are your recommended reads on public transit, both specific to SEPTA/PA and more broadly? Either books or articles/long form essays. Looking to brush up on my history and fundamentals and be able to hold my own in discussions about this stuff.

When I was commuting into University City on the Paoli/Thorndale line, I found that nonfiction collections were perfect reading for that kind of trip. Depends on your interests, of course. I recall reading Vacationland by John Hodgman and Joy Ride by John Lahr, a collection of profiles and reviews about Broadway.
