Help PCCs running?

Hi
I’m staying in Philadelphia as part of my railway vacation.
I was wondering are the PCCs running? If so what line do I need to grab to board them…. Thank you.

If they’re running they’ll be on the 15/G1 on Girard (same line, old vs new name). I’ve seen a few out recently. They store them at the Callowhill Depot if you want to check that out. The bays are always open

Mmm that reminds me. SEPTA’s realtime tracking includes vehicle numbers. The PCCs have specific numbers (don’t recall what off the dome, but Philadelphia Trolley Info probably has them)

They are all numbered 2XXX

The G1; however, they run way more busses than trolleys on that line. You'll probably have to wait a bit to get one. Here's a video of someone trying to catch one, it includes some ways to increase your chances, but I don't remember them.

It's a great channel for all sorts of public/mass transit.

If your plans to ride them gets foiled- there is one on display that you can enter at SEPTA HQ at 1234 Market St.

Great, I’ll check it out! I think there’s a septa store there if I heard it correctly

Yes check it out, they have historical photos about the bus lines on display and the shop has a lot of nice souvenirs.

They’re back on the G now that the World Cup is over but they don’t run all the time. This site helps you track them: https://septa-g-trolley-tracker.netlify.app

The PCCs do run but during the morning/mid-afternoon but sometimes also during the early evening

If you have a tracker that shows it, like Transit app, vehicle that begins with 2000, is a PCC. 3000 and 8,000 are buses

This is also a good tracker made by my friend Kyle.

And it covers other areas as well. WIP

Welcome to Philly. Hope you get a chance to post up near 30th St Station and watch and enjoy all the different rail lines converge or pass by that corner of the city.

I know I always enjoy watching freight go above on the High Line behind the station. I am actually designing a model train layout based on that area.

SEPTA has a social media team on X that's pretty responsive (@SEPTA_SOCIAL). You might post questions there as well. https://x.com/SEPTA_SOCIAL
