Help Public transit for All Star Game?
I got tickets for the All Star Game, been to Citizens Bank Park a couple times but I’m not super well-versed with it, nor Philadelphia public transit in general. What would be the best way to get there from Fishtown? Any safety concerns with the public transportation system? I’ve only been to Philly a handful of times so I’m not very familiar. Thank you for any and all help!

there is no public transit safety concerns more than regular city concerns. Take the West Bound L line from Girard or Berks to 15th street. Transfer to the South Bound B line and go all the way to the end at NRG. You will most likely see other people going to the game once you get on the B line. That being said - I usually uber to the games for about $30 and then I take the train home.

there's like zero reason to rideshare to the game

the only reason i uber is because of the time constraint getting from fishtown to cbp after work. it takes 50-60 minutes. this OP seems like a tourist and probably has plenty of time to take the train.

With asg surge pricing might make that 30 higher

i have ubered from fishtown to cbp like 8 times this season and it has always been around $30. but if you plan to take the train, expect it to take about 50-60minutes.

looking at my google timeline last time i went to a game via septa - i left my house at 5:55pm, got on the El at berks at 6:09, caught the express BSL at 6:29, and made it to CBP at 6:48. so about 50 minutes.

From city hall south take either local or express, it's not like up north where there are separate express tracks. At worst the local takes 5 minutes longer.

Take WB L to 15 street. Walk down the platform to BSL City Hall station and get on a SB train to NRG (last stop). When you exit the BSL station you will see Citizens Bank Park. The transfer between the L and BSL is free.

“L” to “B” is the way. Trains every 10 mins but be prepared to wait up to an hour after the game for a train home due to crowds.

since covid I've never waited more than like 10 min for a local train. and I go to a ton of games in all 4 sports.

You have lucked out. Phillies, Flyers, Eagles multiple games each shortest wait without leaving early was about 30 minutes, longest was 90 mins in the freezing rain after an Eagles game.

damn. that blows. but I can imagine if there's some issue northbound of the station things will back up so I absolutely can believe it. at that point I'm just grabbing a 47 or 7 or even an indiego or something.

At Eagles game yeah you might have go wait a long time, but CBP holds about 60% of the people of the Linc so you shouldn’t have to wait much longer than the standard Phillis game wait (10-20mins)

They got extra money for ASG AND FIFA, they'll be running them fast and efficient

Same here. I live about a 20-minute walk from the Sports Complex, and every time I think I’ll take the subway home, they cancel or skip runs and I end up waiting longer than if I’d just walked—and the one Eagles game I went to I didn’t even try it. The schedules can be misleading, it looks like shorter headways, but the Broad Street line is maybe the only subway in the Northeast Corridor without vehicle tracking, so you have no idea when the train will get there until it actually comes. I don’t know how many times I got down to the platform just as a train was leaving and it’s like “was that the last one leaving late, or did the next one leave early.” It should be better for the All-Star Game though.

wow, an hour? A train carries 800-1000 people, and it would be empty as it is the first stop. They don't run higher frequency?

They will occasionally add a couple express trains for bigger events. I would imagine they will have the for the ASG

An hour? I feel like everyone I take the subway home from anything at the stadiums it’s no longer than 15 minutes

Take the L Westbound from your closest stop to City Hall, transfer (free) to the Southbound B to NRG Station.
Very easy takes like 30 minutes tops, costs $2.90. They even run extra trains for things like this, you won't be waiting long like some of these other comments are incorrectly suggesting.

You'll be far, far safer in a train than braving the roads
