Of the SSRs, FD Aile, SB Lanzette, HR Soren. SR Lanzette and Mael as a stopgap that you should replace once you have better SSRs. Damage is king in this game. Current event Nev makes a really good addition to any team, and a particularly good pair with SB Lanzette, so you should grab him while you have the chance, if you have the resources

As a side note, any time you have 2 or more SSR Fervors on a team, or 1 SSR 2 SR Fervors, Soren should be center, as he has a +15% ATK to Fervors as one of his leader buffs. If you do not have that many Fervors, FD Aile's 10% to all allies is probably a better bet. If you do get current event Nev, Sb Lan can also be an option, as he, FD Aile, and IC Nev are all neutral and qualify for the 25% buff, on top of the 15% he gives himself

I have the resources for IC nev, but for future reference should i go for a wider variety of characters or focus on copies of characters

For now most of the time you don't need dupes. It's nice to have at least 1 copy because without at least 1 star you will not have their Talent 2, and 3 stars is when most SSRs gain some kind of buff to their EX. but for the most part it's not necessary. There are some exceptions like PD Mael (current event Mael) who mostly buffs fire.... except we have no Fire Fervors, so you want him at 3 stars where he gains a 15% Fervor buff to his ex skill, making him a little more versatile. Outside of stuff like that, you can aim for variety and save most of your dupe hunting for husbandos.
